yes it is The World. No you are not the one. Morgana does exist because Morgana is part of The World. Theres no Hacking or Virus.

Someone finally did it. Problem is, does it expand beyond simply punching in random terms and getting a dungeon? If so that game will not last long at all. Like Varizen said, it'll need a lore and a reason to be high leveled in the game. In .hack, I never cared about getting high leveled or doing things in the game that actually had to do with the simulation, I just liked the story. So overall, if it can't expand upon dungeon crawling, then this game is asking for failure.

Especially since there's no look changing (beyond what Adept Rouges can do) and due to the lack of NMs, everyone can get any piece of gear, and there's pretty much set "Best" items in it. Though I did do a lot of gear switching constantly near the end (sometimes you needed some spells and attacks more than others!) of the first series, it really didn't equate to much. There's gonna have to be a lot to do with the actual Epitaph of Twilight . Which in turn would somewhat bring Skeith and company into play as the waves.

it follows The World storyline.
"the world has been under attack by monsters, which has forced the forces of good to retreat into fiercly defended cities and forts. Only adventurers (represented by the players) are allowed to penetrate the magical shields around these safe havens and battle with the monsters that lurk outside. These adventurers draw their power through their mastery of waves, symbols that are inscribed onto their bodies and equipment that allow them to channel the power of the elements into their bodies in the form of magical skills and abilities."

and will be heavily based on the epitaph of Twilight,. If you ever get a chance to read it its a good story. itl be more than just dungeons. there will be dungeons though. but it wont be the only place to fight.

It's going to be shit because the single player games are shit.

That said, I didn't know anything about it. Which is great because it's just gonna die before december.

Don't get me wrong. I love the cartoons, hate the games. Not even gonna click the site link.

Nah it wont die. They promised even if they have a lawsuit from bandai themselves, they'll keep it going even if it has to be made under a different name(would have to rename it because of a lawsuit) and they are just to dead set to make, finish ,and keep it alive. if you don't like the games NP, your just not a gamer or you haven't played all 7 games or you just have a different taste.. Normally its reversed people like the hack games not the anime.(this is because anime is mostly talking and games had all the action) w/e the case i think everyone will find something they'll like. Its not like the .hack games because those had a totally different storyline. it could be more related to the anime. and like i said before the story is powered from the epitaph and not off any of the anime or game.

I think there's more than the 7. There's .hack//Limit on PSP, and then there's a few that didn't make it out of Japan.

Honestly, .hack shouldn't have been a game. The execution kind of sucked. Has an awesome story though.

The story was one of my favorites, but when you get down to the original 4, it was $200 for one game with game mechanics from the stone age. Lost your memory card? Lost the best weapon from the previous game? You're gonna get raped hard at the start of it.

The hottub OVA was glorious though. Liminality was also a favorite of mine. After the 2nd game, I just bought the rest for the OVAs. It was a painful journey to the end of the games which I eventually did, but had no rush on them.

On a random note, Tarvos "The Avenger" just started on iTunes. On my way to work yesterday randomly it selected the Vol1-3 Staff Roll song from the (first 4)games on my iPhone in my car audio jack.

Limit? you mean Link? Link is the only one in japan not in USA, Theres .hack Mobile which is a cellphone game and theres limit. all of which do you no good to play unless you know Japanese. Since these games are story driven playing a Japanese game and not knowing Japanese is useless. so like i said, 7 games lol.

on a side note: cant wait for //LINK to come to the US

I finished Outbreak but never picked up Quarantine cause it lost my interest. I have ADD as well so that was probably a contributor.

It was a very small contributor. As mentioned above, each new game brings nothing new to the table except story, which can be easily obtained through youtube/the wiki. I don't have ADD and I had to force myself to finish it.

The best thing I have to say about Quarantine is, "Thank god this shit is over".

8 phases? It should have been only Skeith, Gorre and Tarvos as fights, the others should have stayed in cutscenes. Why? Laughably easy or stupidly annoying. Don't even get me started on the shit involving Kubia and all of his boring and needlessly involved fights. I at least felt awesome after killing the three I just mentioned. I felt dirty killing Macha, and fell asleep for Innis, Magus and Fidchell.

I loved everything about "The World" from the character classes to the story. What I hated is how they put it all together with such a horrible battle system, zero replayability, and put it on 4 discs and make you pay full retail price for each disc. That said, I wanted to play Wavemaster so bad it almost hurt.

I learned my lesson with Quarantine, and just borrowed the discs for .hack//GU. I have no comment because I didn't pay full price for them. I got them free. I can't bitch and moan about something I got for free, no matter how badly I want to.

EDIT: Checking the link from the OP, I can't help but laugh my ass off at there isn't a single screencap, the forum contains like 30 people, and the race description only has artwork for the furries. And WTF @ the news header claiming the alpha starts soon? Beg their pardon? I don't even know what it looks like or what platform it's going to be across. How the hell can it be in alpha soon? Oh... it's one of those.... MUSH things.

Pass.

Well good thing this new system is not like the first 4 games. it take place before them and has a way better battle system. Also if you play you can be the wavemaster you wanted to in the 4 games.

What's really weird about half the the actual .hack// lore is even when you watch and play every last bit most of it still never comes together. Like that Haseo is actually Sora from .hack//sign. Which explains why Skeith was bound to him. If you watch the whole anime, you know that at the end, when Morganna's plans to keep Aura asleep forever fails, she makes the cursed waves, and the first victim of Skeith was Sora, and he even kept Sora's consciousness in his wand, which one of the hidden easter eggs you find in the game is you can save Sora in Outbreak I think. Might not be until after Quarantine, it's been a while. But he's left with amnesia after he's freed. Kuhn is also another character from an anime. He was Seig, the boy who was in a coma and the characters in Liminality were trying to save. The only character identities in GU that were ever obvious was that Endrance was Elk, and that Yata was Wiseman.
