im living in thailand at the minute and want to download ffxi. dont want to buy a boxed copy here since most shops only selll pirated copies of games (standard practise over here). any way, when i try to download it using the links on the square website, steam blocks me from doing so (not available in my area) whilst d2d and gamespot indicate that the game is only available to customers in US and canada (although it doesn't say that i CANT download it). the european site for square is a similar story - steam blocks it while the other vendor seems to be euro customers only - and the asian sites are in japanese and chinese scripts, which i cant read.

any suggestions? ps i only want to download legally - im willing to pay for the game (preferably from usa as its about half the price the european site is charging - $14.99US versus 19.99euros) so no torrent suggestions please.

would making a new steam account saying you are from EU work allowing you to dl it? OR maybe set your router to use a proxy that runs in the USA or EU? Or get make the account and get a friend to pay for it and you just paypal him? I dont know...
