What always got me were the ass fucks who live in New York, calling in to AT&T to bitch about their shitty service. You're surrounded by giant metal towers. No fucking duh you're not gonna get perfect reception.

Better yet, the people in Las Vegas always complaining about a service black out. You live in the fucking desert, of course sensitive cable devices are gonna be fucked up! Be glad you aren't dial up's bitch anymore.

This is exactly what I go through every time at work I have to send someone's "retail" model in, since HP and Lenovo only let us get warranty repair parts for business model Desktop/Laptops.

HP needs to be collectively coated in napalm and left to burn for a) eating DEC b ) having cowfucker hadji tech support c) Trying to sell me a new computer instead of replacing a 50 dollar component d) being associated with compaq.

As for the main topic, this is good. It is a step towards reestablishing that the owner of the hardware owns the hardware. If I didn't own it, I shouldn't have to pay for it. If I paid for it, I should be able to do as I please with it.

Our telecoms industry is brainbreakingly noncompetitive and it shows. Europe barely shrugged at the iphone on release, because they'd had smartphones for years and why would they want one that HAD to be tied to a certain provider? In britain, you buy your handset and then choose your provider, and it costs generally less than our 'subsidized' contract locked pieces of ass. I'll admit that britain has a much smaller landmass to worry about infrastructure on, but at least the telecoms compete, and invest in infrastructure.

edit: Fuck you KI, do NOT format my fucking post.

In defense of tech support, some places do outsource in the US *cough*Verizon dsl, Cox communications, Apple*cough* But they typically employ people who are either desperate for work, or too lazy to do something else. Plus the Somalis I had to put up with were the laziest mother fuckers I've ever seen.
