Has anyone tried it? If so what were the numbers like? Torn on which to use.

I hope you're kidding. Haubergeon +1 vs. Perle Hauberk is DEX+2, Accuracy+4, Attack+4 vs. STR+2 and Critical hit rate +2%. Crit hit rate does absolutely nothing for Penta, and the lower STR is compensated via higher DEX (Acc and a mod for Penta), more Attack and of course, Accuracy.

Also, as much as I loathe to say this: Polearm SAM will most likely be a thing of the past starting with the next patch or the Lv. 99 patch, at the latest. Not only will our Skill level scale well enough to still make it worthwhile at higher levels, we may also not see any good Polearms for SAM after Tomoe (no Trial of the Magian Polearms were released for SAM this update).

I really doubt they're going to make PA SAM obsolete. Skill gaps between A and B skills are still the same afaik, and all it will take is one decent polearm to be released via magians, a drop or otherwise.

Yeah, but who knows whether Skill progression will stay at a steady 5 points per level? It might jump to 6 or 7 for A-/A+ skill. And the part about the Polearm still stands. I really hope that I'm wrong on this, though. D:

Ahhh, I had no idea what the fuck you were talking about. I would be extremely surprised if SAM didn't get at least one decent Polearm though.
