I've been wanting to spice up my game lately because I've come to the conclusion there are a few items I will never get. I would like to dat file my weapon for an excal and the weapon skill to look like Knights of the Round if at all possible.


My problem is, I don't know the propped steps to do this. I've been to a website I found after some short research. The website doesn't seem to be active anymore.

Few things I need to know are
- what files needed to edit
- any programs needed (links would help)
- any other info I need that I may not be aware of.

You're in the wrong section.
But...
Once you get the hang of it, Dat swapping isn't that difficult.

Spoiler

First you need to download Altana Viewer (or the equivalent). Get it running, and set up your char as it is in game.
Next, you click on the weapons tab and record the File path of your current weapon;





Open this folder as is says and leave it alone for now.
Next step, change the weapon to the one you want;



Again, note the file path and open it in a new window. (You should have two separate file paths open now)



Step 3. In the folder with your original weapon, highlight the corresponding number and change its name to something memorable;


DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE. YOU MUST KEEP THIS IN CASE OF FUTURE SWAPPING OR SWAP FAILURE.


Next, in the other folder with the weapon you want (Excal), copy the correspondingly numbered dat and paste it into your original weapon's folder.






Note: some times it will be saved as a copy in your folder.



Now, Change the name of this dat to the correct number.



Keep these folders open.
Now, exit Altana Viewer and re-open it to check your swap was successful.



As for WS swaps, I've never bothered to try it. Perhaps you should find a tut for that one.
