Pretty accurately describes my feelings towards their new method at nerfing Samus at the start.
Oh the Varia suit, just what I needed 20 fucking screens ago, thanks Adam.

They sure do find silly reasons to strip Samus of her abilities don't they? :P

People should expect a game like this to not be more than 15 hours. I don't think I have played a Metroid where it has taken longer than that. Sure, Super Metroid may have felt longer, but it really wasn't, a lot of games seemed to take a lot longer when I was a child. The only thing I found disappointing was the final boss
Spoiler
. I was expecting something more from Team Ninja, but ohh well still fun none-the-less.

The real final boss was fun though~

Authorisation was badly handled, getting a powerup should result from some accomplishment and make the player feel like they earned it. Getting the varia suit right before the boss fight? That's just ass, flies in the face of what makes games enjoyable. I didn't think it would bother me going in, but there's just no real point for having it. Fuck story, fuck logic, just make her lose her stuff every game, it'll be more enjoyable.

Just a couple of things drag it down but they can be easily remedied if there's a sequel done in this style again. The foundation here has a lot of potential so I want to see at least one game attempt an open ended, non linear Super/Prime type of game world before writing it off completely. Most of the issues people bring up are easy fixes, but I'm afraid the complaining is going to make the series go back to first person. Do not want.

You beat the first Metroid Prime with 100% completion in 15 hours?

Well since I beat it less than 10, yea I can say 100% can be easily done in 15 hours.

Well... you didn't do it, but I did, and without a guide my original play through with 100% was 21~ hours. Compared to 15~ with Metroid: Other M, doesn't make a whole lot of fucking sense.

I won't defend Other M's longevity. But no Metroid is a long game. I knew from the bat it wouldn't. Metroid + Team Ninja, do the math.

Hmm, I don't use guides either, checked my GC version of Metroid Prime though, looks like I got 17 hours on my first game and it is 100%. Not sure what we are arguing about, we both agree that the game is short. >_>

Prime Samus moves slow, kills enemies slowly and scanning things eats up time. Those games can obviously get more mileage from less content than Other M due to how it's structured and the pacing of those games. I went into Other M with the expectations time wise of a 2D Metroid and came out very satisfied, should have been obvious from the start it wouldn't touch the prime games in length.

The game wasn't all I wanted it to be, so I'm just a little disappointed I guess. Oh well, hopefully they will make a Metroid for the 3DS.

Game is good on its own merits but compared to past metroids it falls a bit flat. Exploration was way way way too light and since the only incentive to explore was m0ore missiles and health (no new tools like grapple, space jump, etc) i often questioned why i should go take a look around.

Metroid is a much slower pace but captured the essense of metroid better which was exploration. So many times i thought i was being clever going off the beaten path to find that the power up, and the next objective were on the same path very dissapointing there :/

Pro's: better story, very cinematic, better action

cons: linear, low exploration
