I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this very odd problem.
I recently came back to FFXI, reinstalled every expansion, updated it... then installed Windower AND the most recent FFXIUI mod, which I found here: http://emikoffxi.liv...l.com/6645.html
Unfortunately, I neglected to notice that it's very out of date according to MMO standards -- it was updated in November of last year.
But... I did not notice this because it worked perfectly, or so it seemed...
Until...
I noticed that anytime I saw anyone speaking in auto-translate, the text would not show up. Instead, I just saw two empty arrows (one red/green) next to each other, with nothing in between.
This was very odd to me. So, I tried to type something with the auto translator myself. As soon as I clicked enter, my game encountered an "OMGMUSTCLOSENOW" error and forced me to close.
I was wondering if...
1) Someone could tell me if this is a problem triggered by Windower or by the UI.
2) Someone could tell me how to fix it... Do I have to reinstall FFXI completely and leave the UI out? Or is there a way to wipe over these files without going through that long process?
Thanks for all of your help.

There is an issue with windower where if it crashes, upon restarting, your auto-translate will display everything in Japanese. Its the same phrase for every word, if I recall its something like "Auto-translate Dictionary is not loaded". I believe there are also rare times where it shows nothing all at (whats happening to you).
Restart the game from scratch and it should go away. If its still there then I have no idea but I doubt its from a .dat mod.
To replace all the dats with default ones click "check files" on the pol viewer and pick FFXI.
