A 24-hour delay isn't bad at all.

First step: download any kind of Torrent program, I recommend uTorrent.
Go to your My Documents folder. There, open "My Games" and "FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version" and then "downloads" and "ffxiv-beta". In that folder you will find bca2a8ae and d96437e6. In both of them, you will a folder called "metainfo" which each contain torrent files.
Now, what you must do is open the official FFXIV updater and check which files it's attempting to download, then find that respective torrent file in each of those folders and download it via uTorrent (I personally got download rates between 400-800 kb/s). Once you've downloaded that file, place the file in the "patch" folder of the appropriate folder you found the torrent in (either the "patch" folder of bca2a8ae or d96437e6).
Keep doing this until you've downloaded all the files the patcher wants, then start the patcher again, and it should check and attempt to install all the files, which will then be moved to your "Program Files" folder. You should eventually be able to get to the Login screen.

Hope that helped.

Edit: For your uTorrent settings, I'd recommend this kind of settings for Download/Upload:

And after you download, I'd ask that you and whoever else used this method: please increase the Upload rate and seed for a while so others can get a good download rate, as well.

What's your download speed like, if I may ask? If you didn't see the image I posted up there, you might want to check it out.

But shouldn't we wait until 19:00 PDT to start download files? Won't the files you are using torrent to download (the files from yesterday) contain some kind of critical bug in it?

P.S. I love the picture of Ifrit bit the head off. That made my day.

No, you're going to want to do it early as possible (as per SE's suggestion as well), just to avoid the rush. Its going to take a few hours. If you started now you might be finish in time.

The updated files that SE has worked on are possibly available already, even if the Beta hasn't started yet (as preparation). And even if they aren't, the updated file will most likely be only about 4-10 MB big, while you guys will have to download the several GB big game files beforehand.

Hmm, how many Seeds/Peers are available and how many are you connected with, currently? Maybe you need to adjust some settings, or you're having bad luck and aren't getting any good seeds.

If you're on a router opening ports 55296-55551 will greatly improve your speeds with SE's client.

Also, for other people using the Torrent method: make sure to set uTorrent to use any of the ports you've opened for your router under Preferences -> Connection, otherwise you won't be able to establish any connections.

Hmm, seems like you haven't connected to too many of the available Seeds and there's not enough among those you're connected to who have a good Upload rate. Alternatively, maybe it's just your internet connection that's somehow limited by some configuration.

You need an invite because you need a SE ID and PW

Everyone who applied to beta with their SE accounts and information got sent an E-mail detailing where to go to download the client etc.

Codes won't be given out until 19:00 PDT today, as far as I know.
