I did that but there was no button or anything to register for the beta anywhere on the page, I read through it in its entirety a few times to make sure. Whatever, I click on the link to download, open up my appropriate ports on the firewall for computer and router start downloading and go to sleep. I wake up in the morning and the download is still only at 2%, I restart my intertubes to make sure this isn't it. I go to campus and come back and I'm at like 7%. This process has repeated over the past 3 days until I'm sitting here grinding my gears stuck at 26%. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Its uploading way more than its downloading so all that's really happening is that other people (who are successfully downloading) are leeching my internet bandwidth away from me (which is depressingly expensive in Canada).
Thoughts? Ideas? I downloaded a .rar from a torrent site (4.7gb) and the rar wouldn't unrar and just seemed to disappear from my computer. I'm downloading it again from a directdownload place and am getting really, really frustrated with how poorly SE is running this show and I haven't even started playing the game yet.

Edit: The link to apply for the open beta has magically appeared now and it says "Applications for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test have been temporarily suspended. Please wait until we are ready to accept new applications and then try again."
f____ you square-enix. I've wasted a lot of time and bandwidth trying to get this to work.
