Deus Ex Automata wait, wat?

- The puppetmaster ability "Deus Ex Automata" will be added.

- Deus Ex Automata (PUP Lv.5 / Ability Delay: 1 min.)
Calls forth your automaton in an unsound state.

- When level restriction results in a puppetmaster's automaton being deactivated in a state of full or nearly full health, the ability "Activate" will become immediately usable.

- The following items usable with the puppetmaster ability "Repair" will provide immediate HP restoration in addition to their existing Regen effect. Their purchase price will also be reduced.
Automaton Oil / Automaton Oil +1 / Automaton Oil +2

So S-E finally "fixed" Activated, sort of? Deus Ex Automata seems like if you use it, your pet will come out with full burden/overload in effect, even though it can cast magic or attack, recast timers will be lengthened as well as magic and melee acc/attk will be lowered. Possible that pet won't use any JAs like shield bash or flash or stoneskin as well until burden has worn off.

Of course "unsound state" is typical S-E cryptic speak, however at the very least this means we can pretty much spam automatons like SMNs do for Carby pulling or other things like letting the automaton hold hate if you're in trouble, letting it die, then popping out another one, repeat. With an ability delay set at 1 minute, it seems too low to me, and sounds too good to be true (couldn't you just whittle away at almost any enemy then as long as your pet can withstand 1 minute worth of punishment?). There may be other negative factors involved if you use this JA over Activate.

What do you think? Would you rather have our current Activate fixed by dropping it down to 5-7 minutes or ability to spam pets every single minute?

As for the other stuff, it's welcomed but I wish they would just let automatons auto-scale when you zone into a BCNM fight or whatnot like Wyverns (not sure about Beast pets though), that way your pet is out plus your activate is already ready to go just in case, as opposed to entering, getting Activate back (with new tweak being added), then Activating again but now your timer is at 16:40-20:00 depending on your merits.

Of course DEA may make everything a-ok. Here's to hoping S-E got it right. Funny how I see this update note just after fighting Keesha Poppo and having a lot of trouble with pet dying and dealing with 8-15 minute recast timer issue. Finally managed to killed it with some help, but didn't get cirque necklace. :(

Well based on how they're enhancing the automaton oils, my guess is the DEA will bring out ur auto at very low HP, so u couldn't really have it tank just by repopping every 1 min, but instead it sorta makes it wise to use with repair or role reversal. I just hope its not like a crippled auto with no acc or attack, slow, low hp as if weakened. I can deal with low HP and full burden to have it at 1min recast.

well overloaded means 50% slow + grav already, so as long as it doesn't have reduced stats upon release~!

Well I meant full burden, that u can't use even 1 maneuver or u will overload. I think I might consider taking out ventriloquy for a 4th Fine-Tuning depending on how DEA works lol

If the automaton is gonna be summoned with 50% HP, I'm gonna guess 50% MP as well, or whatever % they decide on it being summoned at. So won't be able to really use ADD with this if it's true.. Will still have to stick with activate to nuke things. lol And if this doesn't happen to affect it, we're gonna have to start calling ADD, DEADD instead. lolol We use DEADD and make your mob DEAD!

Cool stuff, i was thinking fully overloaded, but yeah 50% hp would suck, suppose being able to pull out 1/2 your pet every minute is still better than nothing

My guess is it will just reactivate the automaton with whatever HP, MP, and recast timers it had when it was Deactivated. If it died, it comes back with 1 HP, which would explain the change to Repair in a way.

Basically an oshi- ability when you can't activate a fresh automaton. My guess is Deus Ex Automata is to combat all of the bajillion ways the automaton is Deactivated without it actually dying. Like being Charmed, entering a level capped area, having to change attachments, trying to Deactivate to shed hate but the puppet take a sliver of damage first, etc.

99% of the time, the reason your Activate timer is left at 20 minutes is because of something BS reason. Thank God they're fixing it so you can bring the automaton back out if something dumb happens and you're left without it. I mean really, how often does your automaton actually die? The most I've seen him die is when something is kited and his nukes pull hate off of the kiter, or when he nukes after a hate reset move and gets one shotted. But that doesn't happen often because of the -enmity attachment. So it's really about losing your Activate timer for a dumb reason like missing 3 HP on the automaton when you Deactivate or just getting Charmed.

Welcome change, no matter what state the puppet is in when the ability summons it.

P.S. Hoping for new automaton weaponskills. :(

With the new changes to Repair, and how amazing Role reversal is, even if the automaton is revived with 1% HP, we can easily full heal it and return to ADDing, attacking, ect in no time flat. Essentially, with this skill, Se just GAVE us ADDing on a silver platter.

Condensor+INT/MND build handles even capped overload after a few seconds
Role Reversal
Repair

Pretty much, no matter how bad our puppets get summoned back, we can get back to business in less than 30 seconds.

Mmm, true.. I'm wondering now if Role Reversal is gonna be worth meriting more than just once. 4 Min recast isn't bad, but 2 min sounds better. lol I only stuck one merit into it to unlock it.

After looking something up that Path mentioned in another thread..

http://en.wikipedia....Deus_ex_machina

Dues ex machina (automata):

"a seemingly inextricable problem is suddenly and abruptly solved with the contrived and unexpected intervention of some new character, ability, or object."

Sounds like it may be more like Aura said, wherein whatever the automaton's current status was before it disappearing, it's returned with the same status. I.e. it gets killed, maybe it'll come back with a small % of HP like it had gotten a raise, or whatever HP/MP% it was at prior to deactivation without being fully healed or sudden deactivation due to a level cap restriction or charm.

Yea im very excited for it, and like mentioned even if it was at low health it would be very simple to fix and deactivate on full health to get an auto back with activate again having full mps etc. And who knows, in some situations may even just be able to keep using DEA to throw weaker autos at a mob similar to smn, could be a minor stalling ability too. Also I can't remember the last time I actually needed to use vent. pending how good this goes, I may end up dropping it to either lower RR or add another tier to fine tuning.

I'm willing to bet that when you call your puppet with this, you'll be unable to use maneuvers or something along those lines.

Yes it would be AMAZING if it came out in the last condition we deactivated at (like 99% HP). This JA seems great for melee frames, but may not be great for nuking depending on pet's HP/MP levels, but if pet comes out with full MP that would be fantastic. I'd love a JA where I sacrificed my HP to give my pet some MP! That would us such amazing nukers.

Still, I will wait and see how this works and hope for the best.

Just got on. Can confirm it summons the puppet at a fraction of its max HP.

Summoned a 1,920 ValorEdge at 522 HP. No other negative effects have been found yet.

Edit: Puppet Oils are now half on all prices. (+2 are now 500 each).

hps and mps appear to be set to ~26% on DEA
