Despite the rocky start, I'm enjoying the game for the most part. The default camera settings take a little getting used to after all those years of doing inverse with FFXI's and the occasional crashes kinda suck, but otherwise its pretty neat~

Probably will roll as a human for the actual game. Miqote was just for eye candy while I explore, lol

This game right now is a 7.0 at best... Coming from a level10 player.
The crafting system takes a LONG time to even set up, the menus are completely unresponsive and Mining and gathering... well... lets jus say it's World of Warcraft 1.0 when it comes to that situation.
Beta version Mining: After you've already selected the node and started to harvest. You have no control over your character during this point and here's how it goes. You stare at the ground intently, then you dig in your pocket for a moment till you take out the pic axe.You swing your axe, you IMMEDIATELY get tired and put your weapon away. Then you click the node again and repeat the same process.
However unimaginably retarded this is, I would love to smack the programmer who thought this would be a FUN way to play.
Lets take WoW for example, it took them about 4 years to realize this is NOT how you want to harvest. Now, you click the object... you instantly mine until it's dead and then you get all the rewards.
More Cons:
THE ACTIONBARS: Why can't they simply save the action bars to the individual weapon?? or somehow make it so re-equipping a weapon wont kill your hotbar.
Why do you even need a hotbar when you're crafting??? To THROW PEBBLES??? REALLY???
I've noticed that the game LAGs alot in cities. Yes, that may be due to overhauled graphics combined with 100+ people that are doing the same exact abuse to their machine. But why can't the developers learn to load NPCs and PCs only where the camera is facing??? Who gives a damn what happens off screen, there could be 2 midgets giving an elvaan a blowjerb and lagging your machine but you're not even there to witness the brutality.
Overall, I've already preordered this game, but I'll be damned if I'm playing for more than that first month if they don't fix up the garbage pile they left in the middle of the world.
NEW IDEAS:
2-hours.... WHERE THE F*** DID THEY GO????
Levequests, MORE THAN 8x every 2days... or just add more quests in general.
Chocobos that you rent for 24hours rather than just one journey.
-Fast Dismounts to combat state.
A JUMP ABILITY used only during combat, that would reduce the distance between your character and your claimed target by about 10 "feet" at most. If you're less than 10 "feet" from the monster then you would launch in the air with your sword and critically hit if you managed to slice the monster as you pressed the button to attack. Like how FFXIII's system with the pre-empative strikes. Please bring a jump button into the game. They're not asking for much. This would be the simplest way to implement something so extreme so late on in the process.
I remember even the earliest of the FF series, the only thing the sprites would do was jump and swing. Getting sidetracked but this is the end of my rant.
With all the possibilities, it's amazing how little effort was really put into this game to make it flow smoothly. There's still hope, and they've got me hooked either way it goes.

You act like this is a final product. The purpose of a beta is data collection and nothing more really.
At this point it isn't even a game. If you have such great 'ideas', then send lettters on the appropriate boards or channels and hope they like it just incase it hasn't been implemented. instead of flaming/berating and bringing up crummy comments, try being humane or an adult with a solution to some issues to persuade players to bring to the companies attention.
In vanilla ffxi the two hour abilties were iirc 30mins then 1hour then nerfed to 2hours. I'd rather have the same or a slightly watered down ability comparable to ffxi's 2hours but with a shorter timer as would many.

I am actually enjoying a lot of the changes made. Crafting is now not JUST a chore, it is a way to level, experiment, one of the only real ways to repair equipment and find new gear (yes I am aware that recipes are online). Gear choices aren't so blatantly obvious now due to AH and whatnot. Quests are actually useful. I disliked getting 50 gil for doing a quest in 11 that took 30 minutes to complete. Hell, the only quests worth doing were missions and EXP scroll repeatables. Not sure if I am totally on board with the way the progress bar goes with durability for crafting, but it is alright. Sometimes it's just really random with the fail attempts. I've broken a synth on a rank 1 levequest as a rank 5 crafter.
The combat system. It is way better than it ever was in 11. However, it does have flaws, as someone said- action bar resets on class changing is dumb. I have to set my 8 or so abilities everytime I switch from pug to a crafter and back. Some mobs are a little stupid though, as with the linking and aggro raidii. I was doing a levequest that was rank 10. I aggroed a mob in the middle of it that hit me for 300 damage and 2 shot me. Really? Some mob placement is horrible. Another levequest that was rank 10, I aggroed two wolves and some flower mob along with my quest mobs and died trying to run away (they were about 30-40 feet away on my screen). Lag gets a little stupid as well. The game takes a shitton of resources for reasons that aren't obvious enough. Also, changing targets can be somewhat of a hassle. It's less of a problem now since I don't die so fast, but it was annoying early on.
Storyline missions don't come often enough. Grinding sort of takes too long in between levequests for the day, but meh. I still don't have a rank 10 but my physical level is nearly 14. That said, class interchanging is a nice change from expecting to grind out one class the entire way. I really like the prospect that crafting classes are not just something for shits and giggles or making specific items at max level. They are a very reputable source of experience for people who want to take a break from running in circles killing stupid mobs in a random ass place. I actually like mining. WoW's mining is boring and too competitive at times. Gathering is just flying in a circuit around the zone and getting as much as you can. In here, you actually have to put effort at the node, and you get rewarded with exp and new abilities. And yes, prospect is awesome. Quickening for what, 45 seconds or so? The running speed boost alone is awesome for zone travel.
One of my biggest pet peeves however, the world, while stunning in some places, is just too fucking big. It takes too long to get back to quest zones if you die (though I guess it accounts for weakness). But I will admit, the teleport function is amazing.

Yes I am..! Although I've been expiriencing a bit of lag today.. NPCs were loading really slow and sometimes I couldn't see any animations when I was attacking the monsters.. .-. Anybody else have encountered this problem..?

Enjoying the beta. Being a Gladiator with Cure is nice. Kinda broken in a way cause i can mow down a ton of mobs and not have to heal or stop for a decent while.
Some issues but for what its worth i like it. Wish they would add a way to tell u at the beginning unless i missed it where to repair gear. Wish they would give an NPC a way to repair your gear fully and not just a certain percentage but all in all, definately gonna play the hell out of this on the 22nd.
