Or not, allright so i quit FFXI back in 2006 (Lancent Valfore), since then i've gotten married and had baby but now i've decided to come back and play ffxiv but during the beta so far what i've realised is theres really no pressure to set up in a party and the xp is severely cut (example: doing a quest killed the banshee looking guys got 1k xp, had a party member 500ish.) so what i'm getting to is wondering if things will turn towards ffxi and be more party based later on for xp groups like have someone pull and you fight there or run around similar to wow and hack and slash through.

also do yall like the way the game is currently set up, or would you like it to change if so what. Will there be AF armor? and heres a big one, no mog houses wtf!?

also, does anyone have a shadow bug going diaginal through the screen? like the top half of the diaginal down the center of the screen is a few shades darker while below that is normal i don't get it during cutscenes just in game.

I guess it's too early to say how the game will pan out, but I really do hope there are more incentives to party, the way I see it right now almost no one wants to party, I mean I partied up yesterday with 3 peeps I met and maybe we got a bit less exp (though if we did, we really didn't notice it) but we all agreed it was much more fun, we were so tired of soloing for hours. I really hope this won't be one of those "solo til end game THEN party" games which seem to be the norm now. Partying up was one of the reasons I loved FFXI so much. If it is I guess I'll have to wait for TERA which seems to be more party oriented. If I wanted to play solo I'd be playing an offline game. As for the bug I am not experiencing it.

I've run across a few parties. They seem to be about the only way to kill the Yarzon Diremite Wannabes outside Ul'dah without being quite a bit above them at the moment. It honestly seems like the choice is there. Guildleves allow for party difficulties (though I have yet to see what this actually does to the mobs).

My guess is, since partying so far seems less necessary, it'll be something you do with friends and such. Wait until Linkshells start becoming more the norm after Beta is done... I bet you see a lot more partying.

Also, since parties allow for juicier targets, it almost seems like soloing is better for XP/kill... but partying seems like the way to go to get max Rank/kill. That is, of course, speculation.

Irvine, thank you very much for the beta key! For whatever reason, the beta application page was failing to send me my registration information (tried three different emails to no avail) and I was getting pretty frustrated. I used to play a good amount of 11 and have been really looking forward to trying out 14. The key worked perfectly and now I'm just waiting for the servers to come back up. I'm hoping to have all day to dive in... we'll see if my luck works out Anyway, the key is much appreciated, thanks man!
