Footwork delay

Forgive me if this did not warrant its own topic, but it seems important enough to me.

With cooperation from a sub-75 MNK, we (truthfully, mostly him lol) have determined that Footwork is affected by Martial Arts traits. What this means is that the base delay for Footwork starts out at 500 at 65, then decreases to the 480 that we all know. It can be assumed that future upgrades to the Martial Arts traits lower this further- so X-hit builds will need to be adjusted.

This post was right on the Spot. At 82 you seem to get one more Martial Arts, which is great when using normal h2h but fs over a normal Footwork build. Now you seem to need 20 Store TP to get the same hits to 100%.

So either you have top of the line gear or use /SAM

so ya 20 stp is kinda unrealistic for most w/o droping like all slots, so how well will a 7-hit setup work now compared to regular h2h

Assuming I even wanted to maintain a Footwork build (and I've not yet seen if Poise Shoes are still holding their own against D+26 Taipan Fangs +1), 20 Store TP is a bit to ask.

Brisk Mask - 4
Usukane Haramaki/Cobra Harness - 6
Rajas Ring - 5
Brutal Earring - 1
Belenos' Mantle - 2
White Tathlum - 2

So, yeah, it's doable... assuming you can pop and defeat Glavoid, then get lucky enough with the drop. Ditto Belenos' Mantle as I've heard that the Tonberry Lieje can be a nuisance to find (has his spawn been figured out? I sort of don't care). White Tathlum is one hell of a nuisance to acquire. I suppose swapping for Hoard Ring, Thew Bomblet, and Sharpeye Mantle would achieve similar results, though. It's still a lot of work to go through for a weapon that should be marginalized.

Mind you, when people start completing Tantra +2 armor, that may change. Tantra Hose +2 certainly assist in the Store TP situation and we'll have to wait and see what Tantra Gaiters +2 are like in terms of damage. Then again, I'm not sure I care. Kick Attack damage would have to be thoroughly insane to scale sufficiently well with standard punching as we approach 99. I've had my fun with Footwork, but it's a touchy gameplay style and the JA delay proves to be an unremarked hindrance when I'm trying to tank, which would describe the majority of my time spent grouped as Monk.

Personally I don't think it's much to ask at all really. Tonberry Lieje's spawn conditions are killing the first Cryptonberry on WS until it pops, which usually pops fairly fast, and the Lieje is easily low-manable (Especially now with Refresh 2 and double-atma's). Hoard ring does not kill you with STR and DEX -4 in terms of TP gain when you're gaining a significant boost in DoT.

White tathlum I assume will be easier to obtain because Sandworm and Doomvoid NM's will be easier to kill; only the rarity of the 20-25HR spawn may hold it's value.

Usukane haramaki is a joke to obtain, and the only issues is getting half of the gil it used to be, and hoping turtle puts out. Everything else people should already have and if they don't are either starting a new character, or really are a casual player to the max (In which even most of them have CoP done by now).

Half-assed slacker? Don't play FFXI anymore then. Trial of the Magians further proves that.

K. I mean, your vehement arguing would hold more weight in my mind if we knew the level cap was staying at 85 and had a clear idea of which is the winner. Your argument right now, though, is coming from a perspective like someone had just asked if Battle Gloves were an acceptable replacement for Ochiudo's Kote. The difference is more like asking if Cross-Counters are worth the investment compared to TM Hooks +2, which should be summed up as, "No; they'll both be replaced as you level up. Also, Birdbanes"

This is probably the right answer to any specific tweaking anyone is looking to do to their gear. Gear well, but I wouldn't try to be a perfectionist until they finish raising the level cap.

Oh this made me laugh. Maybe when SE drops the AF3 body bomb they will up Salv's droprate so it's a "joke to obtain". Until then, no lvl cap boost will compensate a shit turtle droprate.

As for all this AF3, I might bother for some +1's but until +2 becomes doable by less than 6 people I won't be arsed (what ever happened to least bit of fuzz in obtaining this new gear SE?), until then I simply rock the full Usu. And if they upgrade it to +4 or some shit at 99 cap with more stupid NM drops I won't bother at all and just hope for Usu trials (which I seriously doubt are still coming).

If this makes me a halfassed slacker, so be it. I can't be arsed to ask people anymore for some NM in some shit zone, hoping for their or my drop. Did that long enough with Salvage. So even asking 6 for the +2 is already pushing it for me atm, while it needs 10+ at this cap.

Next time quote the whole concept. Because it implied that specific issue. However if you spam it now compared to how drops used to be, the 35 definitely drops more often. Right after I got mine, my friend when 1/2, then the next member went 1/3. My experiences may differ but it's been ridiculous for us.

And yeah, I see what you mean Path. To be honest, how I'm gearing now is actually just holding back, I don't see a reason updating equip at all until 99 cap hits. But to say it's much to ask I don't think is true, only because there has been a lot of time to get most of the gear needed to reach that Store TP+20 goal. Either way this probably won't matter, might even need more Store TP by the time we hit 99 just because of possibly another Martial Arts trait in the end.

What did you want me to quote fully? This?

Quote

Usukane haramaki is a joke to obtain, and the only issues is getting half of the gil it used to be, and hoping turtle puts out. Everything else people should already have and if they don't are either starting a new character, or really are a casual player to the max (In which even most of them have CoP done by now).

Still doesn't change anything about my statement. The fact that you got lucky on it dropping a fuckload doesn't mean I noticed a single change in droprates since "the patch". So yeah, your expriences differ greatly. Any drop I saw was as shit before the patch as after it. I got Usu body in februari/march of this year. And not due to lack of trying for years. Hell, I even paid 5million for the drop, because it wasn't in my Salv group. Best gil I have spend in years.

I could also say I went 1/2 in that merc group on the Usu body drop, if it weren't for the fact I have already seen at least 200 turtles with my own Salv sets before getting it in that merc group.

The hoping turtle puts out part, obviously it pertains to the drop rate.

Anyway, it's whatever. The main usukane piece that I had trouble with was legs. And now they're the most useless piece. :/

The hoping turtle puts out makes your whole first sentence of "a joke to obtain" useless then. Which is why I didn't add it in the quote in the first place, because I didn't want the contradiction in there. Granted in hindsight, it's even more funny then.

Usu legs was the shittiest piece for me too, only got that 2 months ago.

In the maint notes for today: "An issue wherein the job trait "Martial Arts" becomes active when the job ability "Footwork" is used has been addressed."

Goin' out to test now.

Edit: Getting TP returns like I was getting before the increase to lv85 (and the MA trait at lv82). Not sure about actual delay, will work on that after work if someone hasn't already figured it out.

Edit#2: Had some extra free time at work. 11 attack rounds and 143%TP, so 13%TP per round. Tested naked, mob didn't hit me, etc. 480 delay again.
