In Abyssea you obtain points called cruor and you can buy level 78 gear that has very good stats, comparable to some end game gear before 80+ level cap. Scars of Abyssea introduces new Artifact equipment also. You start a quest in port jueno and then wait 3-4 days to obtain 3 key items which will grant you time in the Abyssea areas. After you enter, you have 5 min to trade in the stone, each stone grants you 30 min, and if you leave before you use all your time, you can save the time for your next visit. While xping in the new areas, monsters drop time extension chest which can enable you to stay in the areas longer than your intial time. Hope this little piece of info helps you, I'm still learning myself, ha!

You will need to obtain new equipment. As mentioned above, Abyssea added 3 new sets of armor that are easy to obtain, but they are all level 78. You will need to get new weapons, armor, and accessories. Trial of the Magian weapons are free, but will require an incredible amount of time to upgrade to the point of being useful.

hi, thanks for answer...

well, lvl78 sounds great.. so i can lvl-sync to lv78 i guess and go to abyssea? well, idc if its lvl78+ equip or not, but its better then nothing, or nothing really good to mention ;) when i have lvl78 equip it should be easier to get high lvl eq then or farm with LS something like that...

can you solo in new areas?

no one level syncs in Abyssea. you can take a job from 30 up to max in abyssea without exp penalties to other alliance members.

Why is it that when people quit they drop their R/EX gear? Saw someone who quit on my server drop a Roundel earring.....

Trying to convince themselves not to come back? I knew if I tossed all my stuff I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to come back.

yea, well it pretty works well.. when you lose all your hard earnd R/E stuff, you wont buy reactivate your content ID.. cause you got nothing to deal with.. i dropped really really awesome equipment, and when you login back and you see nothing and no gils, you logout immediatly.. heh,

well anyways, new area sounds great, i guess? you lvl in alliances and no XP penalty? but you earn great XP in alliances? hmm...., how comes? can you even XP-chain there like colibries?

XP in Abyssea is not "normal" XP. XP tracker cannot keep an eye on it because it's not static, it increases as you kill more and more of the same types of mobs. However, once a good Abyssea group gets going, I've cranked out merits once every fifteen minutes thanks to XP bonus chests, and kills (XP caps in Abyssea at 600 a kill). The trick is going with a good group, so if you can just piggy back a good party or two, you're golden. Further, if you NEED that 78 armor set before you can get the cruor for it for some reason, it's ridiculously cheap because Cruor is so easy to obtain (and it's being increased this patch? O.o).

The only thing about Abyssea is that you can't expect to join for an hour or two and then leave. These alliances last hours. And I mean hours. I was in one Abyssea party from level 75-80 with capped merits. This took about 4 hours. If you're planning to join an Abyssea group, make sure you've cleared your whole day.
Other than that it was the best and easiest way to get 5 levels in such a (compared to the 70-75 grind) short time.

Most of the Abyssea gear costs about 30k in Cruor. You'll earn that and more very easily in 4 hrs+

ah okay cool, so a few days farming there and i will have a complete set i guess? well, is it hard to find a group, or is there auto-join system, when you enter abyssea, you will get a alliance? maybe they wont invite low eq. ppl :D ahh... i need to wait for my visa anyways a few days, cause that new billing-system just sucks with this new verified stuff etcbla ;\

Most people shout for members in WG, most of the time you can get in easily. Most jobs have it's place in there, too, so it shouldn't be hard for you to exp on anything in there. BLMs and BLUs are liked for magic kill shots, and DD can do melee kill shots, WHM, RDM and BRD of course for healing/buffing, THF, RNG, DNC, NIN for pulling, PLD sometimes for main assist, but DD's can easily main assist, too. Just sit in WG with your flag up and "Abyssea" written in your seacom and if you don't see a shout that's LFM within 5 min, usually you'll get an invite to a pt already there, and you hardly have to worry about the pt disbanding an hour after you get there, as I've seen parties last for 12+ hours before (and personally have been in some that last that long, getting several jobs from 75-80 with capped exp and merits <3). Now with all the changes being made in today's update to Abyssea, expect to see a huge increase in people partying there, too, as if there wasn't already a huge amount of people exping in those zones to begin with. New areas are being added, hopefully to expand camp sites and possibly exp range.

Considering the patch September update wasn't out at the time of his post, 600 was correct.
