This Video is not an official release from SE. It is from a premier site.

That was a pretty nice video. Really clears up all the confusion over this surplus system. And they didn't even go into mentioning what happens with the surplus exp you gain being saved for other things (assuming correctly they had plans for that.) I still think they should have used Morgan Freeman's voice for narration, though.

I agree, Morgan Freeman has the greatest voice ever.

Yea, that was a pretty nice video, it was very clear in it's explanation.

When I seen this, I wondered if SE paid them or something. Since this sounds exactly like ZAM's article.

SE should have released something like this themselves. A video with graphics always goes much further in explaining things and calming people than a wordy texty press release.

By the way, you can become a fan of Morgan Freeman's voice on Facebook. I am. As well as 6 of my friends!!

Also, his voice has 47,000 more fans than the actual man.

mhmm, and it helps explain the whole, borrrow moves from other classes...all those "hardcore" players are gonna have to do it anyway, i doubt any "good" endgame ls would let someone who only has gladiator abilities be in the group, specialy if the other classes abilities REALLY help out, like the example they gave...that bloodsurge, and second wind, as a tank would be really good...though i kinda doubt you'd get much return from bloodsurge...

Bloodbath*

Anyway, Bloodbath on Marauder absorbs 75% of the damage dealt by your next physical attack. They may have improved this since earlier versions, but on subs, it's 50%. 25% less. That can still be a lot. It also stacks onto weapon skills. One of my favorite things to do is if my Health drops 300-400 points, I do Bloodbath + Trunksplitter. I do about 130 and get ~100 HP back. It's a 1 minute recast. Drops down to ~65 on sub. There's a huge variety of moves to use which help out.

Yeah, that system actually sounds pretty cool and a fair compromise. I may actually get to end game in XIV (still only level 36 brd/50 rdm...)!!

Wait, you guys had trouble understanding this when it was written out, but having some bass speaker reiterate it was convincing?

It's a shameless stopgap to cover for a highly unpolished and content-free game. It punishes the core playerbase for doing what the core playerbase does. No amount of soothing male voices will cover for the fact that it was a tactically poor decision, that its implementation has not been as clear as this guy puts it, and that subbed discipline skills are limited in number and usefulness. The way I do timesink in FFXI is to go pick up another support job, but, let me assure you, I've subbed Paladin, Blue Mage, Red Mage, Dragoon, and Dark Knight almost never and several of the other options have been marginal at best.

But, wait, a soothing voice with some basic graphics explained it to me, suddenly the obvious aspects of the system drain away and I am contented to pay $15 a month to play for about 6 hours a week.

Poor decision..? Just because hardcore gamers won't be able to rush their way to max level in two weeks..? This seems a fair compromise to me.. I'll tell you what was one of the major problems in FFXI.. casual players were advancing through the game too slowly comparing to hardcore players, they were left behind and left the game.. if you check out the actual situation on FFXI you'll see there are only hardcore players left that play the game assiduously.. it's all to reduce fairly the gap between casual and hardcore..

Whatever. I'm just against the use of the word "freedom" at all in reference to fatigue. The bottom line is, you are being limited. I didn't know limits had anything to do with the definition of freedom.

Now, yes I do have a better understanding of what's going on thanks to the visual explanation, but for the sake of utility, you'd still level multiple disciplines like sub jobs anyway, without fatigue. I have to agree that it still seems like a shady system. I won't be "punished" by it, since I'm interested in leveling many classes, but those who don't want to multitask/class will feel it. It's FFXIV's Japanese method of restriction, just as forced grouping and minimal solo content was FFXI's Japanese method of restriction. Many loved XI in spite of its quirk, and it may not be so different now with XIV. We'll see.

The issue with "casuals" leveling too slowly was because EXP solo is pure crap. FoV was helpful, but it's usefulness drops around the 50s.

Honestly, path is right. SE can sugarcoat the fatigue system all they want, but a polished turd is still a turd. People with longer play times will always be able to advance faster than those with shorter, so what's the difference between a higher physical level or higher class rank? People with longer play times are still going to win in the end.

Agree with Kaine. More content will come but I already like this system.

It is not like that for some people. Some people are really confused by what the fatigue system is and this is one of the factors that are steering people away from the game. I believe this video is helpful in helping you understand what you are getting yourself into if you purchase this game. It gives an explanation for people and will help them decide if this game is right for them or not.

There is no true way to defend the fatigue system, it is either you don't like it, or willing to work with it. Calling it "revolutionary" and "freedom" was a load of crap though. I would of said "experiment" and "limitations". But hey, I am leveling multiple classes anyways, so it is not a big deal for me.

One funny thing though, how is physical EXP brought back over time? Saying of course while you are doing events, don't you still get EXP from events? So I am wondering what happens when you reach the limit, and what you can do while it is recharging. Blahh I am mixing up my words! >_>

Another thing I really want to know is how much EXP do you get before you pass on to the next threshold, that'd be a HUGE help.
