Awesome..! It's like a movie..! Although I was expecting to hear Answers in the opening... but anyways, now I see.. it shows how the airship in Mor Dhona crashed and also shows what seem to be avatars being summoned by that dragon when it um.. explodes..? lol..

Double post due to EXTREME EXCITEMENT LEVEL but it seems to me that that massive airship had somehow imprisoned the avatars (which people have said are like gods in this FF) to use as a power source and that once the ship was destroyed the shi's core went apeshit and the avatars were freed. Probably messed up time/space or something since that's a commonly recurring theme in FF and would explain the main character's (that being us, I'm assuming, based on the emphasis placed on the first time you see his face as though its the face we created and the first time he speaks, being the voice we chose) "recollection" of the ancient battle. Just my two cents though. That would also be interesting because then it brings into question who the antagonists in that battle were. Were those dragons rightfully combatting the forces of Ancient Eorzea or were the dragons inherently evil, as the dragon hunters in the main game would have us believe.

Also,

Think that's Bahamut?

Edit: I'm probably totally wrong about the guy in the cgi video being our toon but that would be -epic-

That's not a Guildleve... That's a flashback to the past... In other words, that's the story, which is told threw people affected by the Echo, where they witness events from the past. He happens to experience one while picking leves.

The other thing is they're adding more action based leves.... We've only seen a small portion.

They're all meant to look like FFXI characters though. There's a single Keeper of the Moon in the video if you can kind her. Everything else is its closest FFXI equivalent. The Midlander even looks like the Hume most common in promotions, and the face that bloody appears everywhere... While I liked my character having that face, my god... there are to many NPCs with the face too.

i was thinking, perhaps that big dragon works like the tailed beasts in naruto. When the dragon died or whatever, all the summons were released from his body.

or the summons had just been kidnapped by the big ship.
