Why do I have a feeling that is not the Dante I remember.

His jacket is a little weird. Only thing I am wondering is if this is a sequel, prequel, or a complete revamp of the series. Could be a revamp, that has been pretty popular lately.

It's not Devil May Cry 5.

It's Devil May Cry. As in... They're rebooting the series. That's Dante. And he's got a new look. The only thing he's STILL got is Ebony and Ivory. His sword is different, and it starts with him in a mental institution.

For a second, I thought the people who made that fake Mortal Kombat trailer were the directors behind this DMC trailer.

Capcom is about to shit on one of my favorite franchises. If I want a Western action game, then I'll play a good actual Western action game; not this faux crap.

Actually, I think from watching the preview, I can sum this up.

Hmmm...ahem....

Dante is a crack head. Dirty clothes, unbelievably skinny, messed up eyes, escaped from rehab. Do the math.

Maybe if they edited the character a bit and made him less fucking emo/goth/Twilight/Ramona's first evil ex boyfriend, changed his fucking name because I will never acknowledge that as Dante, and then tied the new character to Sparda somehow, then I might consider this a Devil May Cry.

Look at his back hair. It's white. Is it him in his youth?

Devil May Cry 3 was Young Dante. Even if you're half demon and live a long ass time, you don't act like a punk from ages 15 to 200, and then mature suddenly at 210. This is a bad attempt to capitalize on the relaunch train.

Dear god, I'm afraid the next Final Fantasy might be... Final Fantasy... Except this time not a remake, but a completely different take on the whole series. I was really hoping it would make it to XXI before anything like that happened...

Am I the only one that thinks this new Dante looks like an emo version of the Crow lol?

I don't know about this just yet. I will have to reserve my judgment until I learn more about it...and since its a reboot of the series they should just call it DMC and leave the number out since it don't have the old Dante.

Welp all I can say is....

It looks like Dante has just gone from being an awesome asshole, to just being a douche bag. Dante in the original series never needed cigarettes or dirty himself up just to look cool. They are trying too hard to make him look bad ass. Look gaming industry, just because you want to bring a western audience into your game doesn't mean you have to make the entire game like a western game. What happened to the days where we you used your own vision of a game and people on the east and west coast loved it, like hmm, Devil May Cry 1. Still known as one of the best action titles ever made. You have proven you can pull a worldwide audience in without having to try to appeal to a certain group. Gaming industries doing this today just pisses me off really to be honest.

I may have to agree with Wildstriker, this idea looks like a failed attempt from the get go, but I will see how it turns out.

It is making a wrong choice trying to revamp. Castlevania works well with revamping, because you play a new character in a new era each game (except Dawn of Sorrow), so kind of rebooting the series is not that big of a deal, unless you are a die hard fan of the Castlevania story. With DMC on the other hand, we have been Dante in each one (even though Lucia and Nero took part also) and grown into him and always complain every time they replace him with someone. I don't see any reason to revamp the series at all, especially since you can continue the story of Dante any way you like. Can put a story before, after, and between anything. Even some supporting characters are real bad ass and grown into them also (Lady, Trish).

It shouldn't be we need to revamp the series, it needs to be what we can do to make the series better than ever before. Make a full game in the original canon and have Dante as the lead, make harder levels, make it more fun, add more combos and weapons, make him say a few funny things, and there you go, we have a DMC5. But nope, the developers thought we should start all over and make Dante look like a crack head.

Another thing that bugs me is letting Ninja Theory make the game. Not saying they are a bad company at all, but Heavenly Sword felt really bland to me, and I am getting the same impressions from this game. They are going to have to do a lot to prove that this game can top the previous titles. I highly doubt it, but I have been surprised before.

Man ppl are so quick to condemn things they don't really know nothing about. Wait till there's more info about it, or at the very least game play footage. For all we know this could be somewhat of a prequel..before he became the bad ass we all know and love in the later games.

I know this DMC could go either way, but I'm not willing to say it's gonna suck or its gonna be as great as 3 until they show more of it. I loved the other DMC games, yes even 4, and I really want this one to join the rest in that list, but I'll have to wait and see.

We're quick to condemn it because it takes an established character people like, reboot him, and make him into something completely different. It's like if Sonic the Hedgehog was rebooted as a street punk Hedgehog that used drugs to get super speed, and beat up an innocent college professor in the field of robotics. Or if Mario was rebooted into a game about a fatass plumber with severe Plumber's Butt trying to save some floozy from a mafia boss who's syndicate all wore green suits. Or if Zelda was resent into the modern days. Redesigning a character and relaunching a franchise only works if the series is failing.
