[Tigerlily]

First time I attempted to play the FFXIV beta and after going past the login screen and hitting the Start button it brings up a bigger window with the loading widget at the bottom and then crashes. Anyone else have a problem like this? I've tried running it as administrator aswell and same issue.

Edit: Read a few more earlier topics and noticed someone mentioning about the game struggling on nVidia cards, so I dropped the colour rate to 16 bit and now it's allowing me to log in.

All you have to do is drop the game's graphic settings. If your card isn't good enough on the settings it is on, it will just crash.

Nuh-uh.. I'll tell you why you're able to log in now, it's because the maintenance over the log in server is over.. no need to drop colour rate..
While I hope this won't remain unchanged on final release.. whenever the log in server crashes or is down for maintenance you're greeted by that pleasant message when you get to the character selection page.. in other words, the screen where your character would appear remains black(when usually there would be that classic blue and black striped bg..) and the "FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version has stopped working." message appears.. all you can do is just wait in those cases..

Oh really? I'll try upping it again to 32 bit and give it another shot.

Ah yes it does work and looks much better now.

Game is still lagging like crazy though, seems my CPU and graphics card are unsupported. Unfortunately for me I cannot afford new hardware and since my machine runs WoW Cataclysm beta just fine then that's where my money is going. Pity, was hoping I'd find a good alternative to WoW since that game has changed so much and is getting old.
