I never got into BC2. That might just be my ungodly(womanly) sense of direction, but I could never figure out what the fuck was going on in it.
I much prefer the wide open spaces of BC2 to the claustrophobic confines of MW2. The battles are much more dynamic, unlike the same old charge down corridor/passage X keeping an eye on camper Y lying in corner Z with their goddamn heartbeat sensor. I've seen far too many games of MW2 where people can simply take two steps forward at the start of a match, knowing precisely where to aim to kill at least one unfortunate sod as the match begins.
I'm not gonna lie, the ability to level entire buildings is primarily what draws me towards BC2; games with destructible environments are just a lot more enjoyable in my eyes. Add to this the host of vehicles, a squad system (and the marking system) that when utilised properly is devastatingly effective, and the fact that you can genuinely snipe (not just use a scope to aim at someone five feet away) and you can't really go wrong. It has tons of depth that MW2 is simply lacking when it comes to online play.
As far as Reach goes, I'm writing this while staring at the pause menu. I just can't bring myself to like it. Halo 1/2 were great, and I
loved Halo 2, yet the ending totally destroyed it. It might seem silly to some people, but you just don't end a game like that, had they omitted the three words that infuriate me things might have been different. Yet without the plot to care about, the gameplay is unchanged and frankly mediocre at best. Being limited to two weapons and scant supplies of ammo is all good and well, when the enemies aren't heavily armoured and decked out in nigh on impenetrable shields. The previously amusing cries of those crappy little things as they flee in terror have lost their shine. Halo was released almost ten years ago now, and there has been so little progression in any area other than graphics that it just feels stale and dated. Bungie were quick to realise that they had developed a moderately sized playerbase of fanatical fans that wouldn't dream of not buying the next game in the series, and when other titles have made such staggering progress in gameplay, they've been rather lazy. I'm about three levels in and bored already, I expected a lot more.
