So I recently unlocked Expiacion but I'm not really sure if I'll ever use the WS. The ability to make darkness with either Vertical Cleave or Benthic Typoon and then burst with Eyes On Me is nice but in most cases, it seems as though Savage Blade > Quad. Continuum > Distortion just outdoes a Vertical Cleave/Benthic Typhoon skillchain.

With the addition of Skillchain bonus trait there is almost no reason for me to waste tp on Vorpal Blade.

So Blue Mage, mine at least, is dead set on skillchaining and it seems to me our best possible skillchain in terms of dmg is SB > Quad > Distortion

I suppose if I'm doing something with a bunch of BLMs who want to burst off of Darkness or Light, I could use Vert/Benthic/Gob Rush but this almost never happens.

So again, do you use Expiacion? and if you do, when? why?

Also, for those out there who make Distortion, do you burst on it or just leave it as is?

Honestly I don't use it much anymore. It's been reduced to "Hey I haven't seen expiacion in awhile, I'll use it just for the hell of it" on either TW/EP mobs when I'm just messing around.
Before the update I would usually (Savage >> Dissev >> Distortion) and now I tend to (Savage >> Gob Rush >> Light) or (Savage >> Quad >> Distortion) depending on the mob.

As for bursting, I really don't go out of my way to do so; I would sometimes burst Acrid Stream off distortion for fun and because I already have it equipped for Double Attack. If i was fighting anything worthwhile that took extra magic damage or something (which i don't anymore, basically just do magian and abyssea now :/) I might setup for bursting.

Can probably put both of your questions into the "shits situational" category, but what I love about Blu is our ability to fit different situations so readily so who knows, may find a good use for it in the future!

I don't have a reason to really do darkness since most of what i fight are weaker to light and blms mainy cast light based nukes. Corrosive Acid with a +40int/mnd macro swap produces pretty good results for a measly 55mp with status effects.. which you'd pretty much do better if you saved for Goblin Rush. Before the addition of these amazing spells MBing is pretty manditory for me since it was something i loved doing since no one MBs or calls skill chains these days (i miss that). With everything geared towards light, i think forming darkness is only worthwhile on /thf tbh...but you might as well cannonball if you are /thf anyway >_>;

Only when wanting Darkness and exp+ca+sa+ta +VC or now bt rocks when the mob is weak to darkness. It really is all about the mobs weakness and if you want a Magic Burst in my book. I hate not having all the tools we can have in my arsenal so even if its not leet some times its great for certain situations...

Before the fairy -> sylph server merge you could only get into a nyzul shout if you had a crutch job and it was impossible to static with a day job *sigh* :/ now i'm feeling guilty for not having it.

Nope, haven't touched this ws in months and months. I generally did vorpal > h barrage for more dmg but now I don't bother due to QC.
