So I figured I'd try to do some testing on blood boon while I was looking for pt/avoiding my thesis/not tired since there was very little I could find on it other than was was just assumed based on what we already knew about conserve mps and to some extent, conserve tp.
I set up carbuncle so that there would be 0 perp cost while I wasn't gaining any mps that way it would be easy to record the mps before and after. Using excel, I found the bp cost, mps saved, % saved and fraction saved. Also recorded number of times it kicked in. I used healing ruby II as the test bloodpact because it was the closest to 100 mps that I could use consistantly (not needing an enemy), allowing for *clean* % and fractions (though it didn't happen as well as Id hoped) to show up.
Initially I assumed that it should proc about 25% of the time (like conserve mps) and that it would cut down the bp cost by an integer if n/16 where n was 8-15, however that was not the case. I got some very strange mp reductions.
I took the % mps saved and then made a graph and took the best fit line. Used the formula from that with a correction and ended up with values of 50-5% mps reduction (in increments of 5). It fit very nicely once I added the correction, but I dont understand why i'd need a correction. I would have assumed the mps saved would be a static number like the blm version where its n/16.
I know its a small population size (only did 50 tests) but srsly, its a 48 sec.timer. Planning on doing more tests soon to increase sample size. Also of note, I did this wearing Caller's spats (+3 boon) hoping to get increased proc for better testing. I feel confident that it is similar to conserve mps and naturally procs @ 25%, test has it at 26% of the time wearing my +3
In conclusion:
Blood boon procs at 25% of the time, with addition +x on equipment adding an equivalent %
When bloodboon procs, it has a chance to reduce a bloodpact by 5% to 50% in increments of 5.
Still need to test when the equipment has to be worn for the + effect to take place, can it be worn when the bp command is issued and then taken off, or does it have to be on while the bp is being executed? (conserve mp equipment only has to be on when the spell is begun casting) But would need a considerable amount of + blood boon to test and see a noticeable change.
