I am having a few minor issues starting FFXIV.

I have installed the game, set-up an account and registered everything needed and purchased a new character space. The first time I loaded the game prior to doing most of this, the game ran smoothly and got to watch the opening cutscene. However, I forgot to purchase a character so shut down the game and made the necessary adjustments. For some reason since then whenever I load up and login to the game the browser will boot up show "SQUARE ENIX" and then the game won't go any further and only show a black screen within the browser setting.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix?

Scrap the above, it seems to be a Direct X compatibility issue with my computer. Trying to fix that side myself.

This post is now out of random curiosity due to the DirectX issues, I have found an alternative to the issue but its more of a pain in the ass than anything else.

The only way FFXIV will run is when I have EVE Online open, can anyone please explain that? I am a student in Computing and Programming and since I have been heavily involved in computer maintenance since a child I have never seen this issue which can only be fixed by another game being open at the same time. Luckily for me my PC can handle the stress of this game in the highest graphics and EVE.
