are you trying to do in-game dat to something playable or the reverse?

haven't tried making something playable in-game, but if im not wrong, based on what I learnt from XIV's alpha when I leaked the OST, the game's music format is .ogg files, which are renamed to .dat
in effect you could play everything using something that could play ogg files (i used Audacity).
If so, just export any music file u want into .ogg, then rename it into the .dat you want to replace it with and it should work fine...

the music folder is usually
... \SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV\data\07\FE\00

If that works then just need a way to get to know what files are what music..

i have a rough idea of which files are which..
actually i kinda renamed all my ripped files according to where i see them appear in the game...
don't have them readily available in a list tho

one thing you might have problems with in substituting files is the way they loop... i think the game handles them externally from the files themselves.. like how for some CS music they start halfway through a track
