so i ordered a alienware laptop (overpriced dell) in hopes of playing final fantasy 14 on a laptop. currently i do not have the option of getting a PC due to my constant traveling schedule and i was hoping the M15x would solve my problems. it did not.

i ordered the m15x with the following
Intel core I3-350m 2.26 ghz
4gb dual channel memory
ati radeon mobility hd 5730 1gig.

i was lead to believe these laptops were the best of the best for gaming but i can not run the bench mark nor the game itself. after installation it crashes saying final fantasy 14 has found a problem, windows will help (which it doesnt) figure and solve it. i have tried upgrading the drives, reinstalling and installing the game itself but still no luck. please any feedback to my problem will be great

I know there was a lot of trouble early on with directx 11 missing a lot of files. Have you tried reinstalling that? However I am not yet playing XIV so I dont know if this is still an issue with that.

There was a similar issue posted by another person in the FFXIV General Forum regarding an ATI card and running the Benchmark where it would crash every time that person tried to run it. The problem had to do with the audio codec provided in ATI Catalyst drivers. What another person suggested here and on another FFXIV forum was to update the audio drivers. The catch is that you should not use the one provided by ATI/AMD but the one by Realtek instead.

Realtek website: http://www.realtek.com

Click on 'Download' above then 'High definition audio codecs' then check 'I accept to the above' and then 'Next'.

On the next page, look for 'ATI HDMI Audio Device' and choose from one of the 3 download sites.

If that suggestion doesn't work, try upgrading the drivers again using the drivers found on AMD's website: http://game.amd.com

Be sure to uninstall the old ones first then install those. It's worth a try.
