Why I'm liking FFXIV better than XI..

I got to level 75 and quit because my equip couldn't be on par with others of my classes.. when the cap was raised I tried returning but I never got a darned party for merits..
I never could finish any of the expansions or attain rank 10.. whenever I found a party for missions I had to go too soon.. relic weapons take ages to complete.. on top of that I was kicked out from an Sky/HNMLS for insufficient presence.. unfortunately my job doesn't allow me to play regularly but it seems they put the game even before the real life.. then they started to add more missions and quests that required you to have a complete alliance to beat.. and basically witohut a LS you could never do them..
So basically.. if you don't have enough time to waste on your hands, FFXI is not your game.. otherwise you're gonna get left behind in the dust.. this is what I learned from experience..
FFXIV on the other hand.. as much as incomplete the game is now.. it's not demanding me to stay on for ridicolous amounts of time to get something I need.. this game is able to give me the feeling "I have to go but it's okay.. I can do this later.."
It's much more oriented towards casual players and those with time taking jobs.. what I'm trying to say is that you have a lot more freedom and alot less pressure from the hardcore players community that demands you to have certain equipment otherwise you suck.. :/

In XI, you didn't 'need' anything from endgame except for maybe the bare minimum to do stuff. I hope XIV's catering to casuals goes only as far as the exp advantage they receive.

EDIT: And then there's also the fact of doing the same event over and over for months due to poor drop rates sucks.

You'd be surprised how often shells would actually reject players with certain jobs that had the "bare minimum." Hell, to get into some of the top shells on some servers, you needed multiple jobs, preferably all mages, and had to be exceptionally well geared to get in, which is ridiculous. People don't realize that a lot of how a job plays out is based on player skill, not gear (though admittedly, gear does help enhance one's ability to do their job, but it's not entirely necessary). But if it's not visible how good you are (i.e, if they can't see your shiny gear by standing 20 feet away in WG), they could care less about you and wouldn't let you in. I realize it doesn't take a lot of gear to get any classes job done, but people don't understand that anymore.

Again, all I see here is "QQ, I didn't have enough time to be as geared as others who did, THIS SUCKS".
Plus, Abyssea pretty much dealt the final blow to Kings, Salvage, and in some respect Dynamis since I hear relic weapons get their asses handed to them by fully upgraded Empyrian Weapons.
Good players get to unlock Empyrian Weapons, bad ones get to stick with their shitty weapons. Nothing's changed, my point is valid.

Cool story bro, too bad you're pretty much talking about nothing. What you're doing is the equivalent of someone obsessing over why he could not obtain Leaping Boots.

Serioulsy, I really don't give a fuck. I tried it, seen how it changes people to assholes with antisocial issues, and a whole lot of other shit.

That's like saying trying to be good at a sport changes someone to an asshole.

cool story, wild bananas. he is "pretty much" talking about everything up until Abyssea and late Urgan content. Leaping lizard or Fafnir, it is the same system and same complaints followed by it, and the entire game was based on it.

Difference with a sport though is that skill is the driving factor, where previously (and still to an extent) in FFXI the driving factor is the time invested. Skill still plays a role but not as much. Pretty much anyone who plays 24/7 every day can get most of what the game has to offer, where with a sport you can practice non-stop every day and even though you'll get better and better, you're probably not gonna make it into the olympics. Think of all the -super- shitty players skill-wise who owned relics. I share the opinion that kings were completely retarded and that non-cop dynamis was too long. Dynamis was better than kings though because it could be scheduled. Kings was just waiting around for 3 hours doing nothing, then fighting nothing unless your shell botted.
The new content is a lot better in these regards but its important to have a balance. Some things need to be earned and others should be available to everyone with less dedication required. I have a major beef with emp beating relic right now though. 10k currency + dynamis farmed items, taking years to accomplish, followed by hundreds of hours of killshots, for relic vs a completely free emp that people can upgrade in a matter of months for free. I suspect they'll fix this at 99 but the fact that the -1 is better than relic right now is a pretty big slap in the face to veterans.
Edit: In fact, if they don't fix the relic emp shit imma lose my mind, having just finished Mjol. The fact that Emp comes even close to beating even Mythic is fuggin dumb. SE has always practiced horizontal progression in terms of gear so this is really uncharacteristic. I wouldn't be as worried if it wasn't for the new director.

I was going to type out how you missed the obvious analogy, but instead I am just going to call you out on your abnormally high level idiocy and obsession with me and phallic shaped objects.
