Well as we all know the movement and functions of the UI suck....

Like FFXI we need controllers to play the game and enjoy it.

As Someone who experienced this in XI and replaced his controller a dozen times I knew we would need them again for XIV.

Here are 2 links to the official controllers :

Official Snakebyte site : http://www.snakebyte-usa.com/FF14.php
Amazon Sales site: http://www.amazon.co...x_ya_os_product

KEEP IN MIND !
You can still use the ps3, xbox360 and ps2 controllers or many others for the game. The one above is the offical controller.

Doesn't seem that bad compared to the less advanced but still reliable logitech one pictured above, as the FFXIV version has rumble built in. Would have rathered a wireless though, like Logitech's wireless rumble one. Meh.

I just bought a converter for my PS2 controller, I don't trust PC gamepads anymore.

Didn't even know you could do that. How much do those run?

I do the same thing; and to address Avarghaladion's question, I purchased mine at Wal-mart for about $15. I picked up a few to have back up's in case they ever stopped carrying them for any reason. Best investment ever. Makes it so easy to play XI on a PC.

Nice. I've always been a KB guy since I switched from PS2 but that's pretty sweet. Playstation's always had the best controllers. I've had some of the blue controller (from the OP's image) for a long time now for emulation though and I like em, they're pretty solid as far as gamepad's go but that's probably because they're basically just copies of PS controllers XD.

I use my PS3 controller on my PC. I didn't have to buy a new controller, plus I can still use the rumble feature on it.

Any idea if there's a way to use the movement sensitivity functions? If so I r may need to check that out.

umm.. How do you use the PS3 controller for FFXIV? I swear I've downloaded drivers and I hear the alert when I plug the PS3 USB into the PC. Yet I gets absolutely NO response from the controler.

What am I missing here?

what are you using as a driver? I use motioninJoy. If you are using the same you need to customize the controller settings. I might do a write up in The Underground on it for those who want to save some money.

So, they basically ripped off the Logitech controller, slapped a FFXIV logo on it, and sell it for double?

............BRILLIANT!

They even have the numbers set the same.

as long as you dont buy the controller with the retractable cord things work 1 MILLION TIMES better than a keyboard alone....

retractable cord one breaks after a month of playtime. Replaced it several times playing XI

WOW!!! IT WORKED!!! THANKS!!!

You shouldn't write up a "How to", all i did was type [motionjoy] into the google search engine and clicked on the first link. Once installed, when you click the icon it opens up a how to thingy thats explains how to set up the driver software for the PS3 controler. (It even has access to discussions and walkthroughs, and Q&A's by others who use it.)

I will not pretend I did everything perfect on the 1st try, because it DID take me a whole hour to figure it out.

However "Google"-ing [MotionJoy] is more than enough to learn how to connect the PS3 controler to the PC.

The driver that is automaticly installed when you plug the PS3 controler in for the 1st time using USB port, is only enough to recognise the device, but not to actually USE it.

correct. make sure you have a long USB 2.0 cable however, because if your controller gets disconnected your system may crash.

I hope it's not modeled after a Logitech controller, they don't make pretty good gamepads, I tried a few Logitech controllers and they all suffered from the same flaw: D-Pad too sensitive, making some games a pain in the ass to play.

That's true. Had a hell of a time getting the right exact settings for Goldeneye 64. They're perfect for most old school games but need mad tweaking for shooters.

Not even for old school are they good. Take an overhead game like Chrono Trigger for example, if I hit up I'll either go that way or go in a diagonal direction just for not being dead center on the D-Pad's Up button.
