So after stepping away for 2 months because of real life issues, I come back to find it nearly impossible to level. There are still some jobs I would like to level in the game and have fun with but it seems like it's abyssea only now. I really don't want to take my level 30 job and just put abyssea groups together to leech off of. 1 - makes it no fun because you cant do anything but open chests and 2 - you become so under skilled it takes weeks to skill up. Are actual parties still happening? I wish they could tweak the system to make it solo friendly somehow.

Is leveling possible yet?

Opposed to months leveling...?
At least in those parties I'm actually playing and doing something. Some of these abyssea parties I've seen have leechers sitting off to the side doing nothing for hours. Might as well start a group and then go out for drinks. That's not playing the game at all.

quit the game is all i can say, FFXI is now FFXI-2 and failed bad to remake it to try get people to come back to it because of thier FFXIV failures.
I know it is stupid now but thats how it is, all i say is struggle to make level sync parties if you insist of dealing with it.

I actually really like what they've done. If you're 1-70~ it's a level sync party or if you're post 70~ you're in Abyssea. Yes leechers are becoming more of a pain but if you're vigilant it's easy to see someone is afk and simply boot them. If they come back reinvite them. It's their own fault - whatever happened to notifying your party you're going afk?
If anything Abyssea has injected a new need for almost all jobs, even BLMs.
Oh and graphics aside, FFXI >>>>>>>>>>>>>> FFXIV.

I can empathize with Fruity. I really don't want to buy Abyssea, but I feel like I pretty much *have* to.
I haven't *tried* to get a normal party yet since I just got back into the game and am trying to get all my gear organized/purchased, but people tell me that it's Abyssea or nothing. Maybe I'll see if I can organize a static party or something...
