Recently started back FFXI (actually rerolled). What changes have SAM have been undergoing so far? I quit around December 2009.

Anyways, major changes to SAM have been Abyssea, and more specifically within that Atma buffs and AF3+1/2. SAM got some really good AF3 equips compared to other jobs, but really lost out when it came to Atma, most specifically Razed Ruin, due to SAM not having any mildly decent crit WS. For example, MNK with RR is better off using Ascetic's Fury over Asuran Fists on pretty much everything inside Abyssea, where SAM is stuck using YGK or Penta. Tachi: Fudo helps to pick up some ground if you can manage to get access to it, but ultimately still falls behind an equally geared job with a good crit WS (which is just about everything but SAM and DRK now).

Really? I haven't done any Abyssea or new endgame, but as in terms of HNM before level cap Gekko would go ahead than multihit weapon skills is there something they've changed that?

Yea, Razed Ruins and the fact that attack is not nearly as hard to come by without buffers because of cruor buffs, other Atma and temp items that you can more or less keep up full time depending on the setting.

I've been using the 480 delay GKT(cocksucker ), RR/VV spamming Rana and doing pretty well in Abyssea. I stacked stp all to hell and can pull off 4hits with VV regain but its not 100% due to tic timining. I only play SAM for fun, MNK and WAR are hard to beat in Abyssea.
