Everyones grudge, Charged wisker & Thermal Pulse, 2500-4500.

I like your testing yu did, but you left out three things tomax the dmg more.

1. Sea obis help
2. Sch weather helps
3. I use the 2 +9 int +10 Mab swords over a HQ staff. It seems to pull off more dmg then the staff. Since I dual wield them.

It seems? Not to be a dick, but It should be very easy to test.

The way I worded it, "it seems" means I have tested it. It does do more dmg. You cant get the benefit of obis off breath spells. I deal box a blu and sch . So i do a lot of testing. Blu/sch at can buff his own wind water and sand. By the time 99 hits we can add fire and ice to it as well.

Only 3 pieces for Mab I lack are the af3 HQ 2 boots have 1 af3 HQ hands, working on that and the +6 MaB earring. Once I am done. We will see the true nuke power

As for the Delta Thrust comment that I read above: yes, it's an amazing spell. It only costs 28 MP, takes a half second to cast, and the recats is 11 seconds in my Multihit spell set. With my gear I get about 500-800 out of it, as well as the potent 10TP/tic 6MP/tic Plague effect that comes with it. So while it may not hit as hard as other of our new physical spells, it is certainly among our most powerful weapons.

While on the topic of reviewing the spells, I may as well do the others too.

Charged Whisker - With the correct spell set and atmas, (even just MM), this one is just insane compared to our other nukes, and even comparable to BLM -ja spells. In my set, I easily pull 2.7k. A quote from macross over at BG:



Everyone's Grudge - Similar to Charged Whisker, it's a powerful dark-based nuke. I haven't found any discernible secondary modifiers for it, however that's not to say that none such modifiers exist. With my nuking gear, MM and without a staff I was ranging between 1.2k and 1.8k, depending on resists, on Gigas in La Thein.

Thermal Pulse - Also similar to Charged Whisker, this one's a powerful AoE nuke. It isn't quite as good as CW, but it's still got kick to it, plus a fairly potent Blind effect tied on. I was able to get it up to 1.8k without my Vulcan's Staff on Funguars in Vunkerl.

Reaving Wind - This one's got potential. It appears to be a potent TP reduction that I have so far not had resist on anything that I've casted it on, including some T3 NMs for testing purposes. It's worth mentioning that it's also kind of a dick to learn, seeing as it comes from only the Amphiteres that have been in the game since the Northlands were introduced. (Unless I missed some new ones in Abyssea somewhere...)

Winds of Promyvion - I love this spell. Not only does it allow me to replace Plasma Charge for Auto Refresh, but it also serves a very nice purpose, in both solo and group play. It's AoE erase, that is, it only works on spells that are removed by Erase. I have it down to a 10 second recast, which is pretty nice for an AoE erase spell.

Empty Thrash - It's bad, really. I've yet to find a use for it outside of making a somewhat cheaper Double Attack trait with Acrid Stream, and I do a lot of AoE burning in Abyssea. Its real downside is the fact that it's a very narrow conal AoE rather than a true AoE, lowering its utility next to the far more effective Benthic Typhoon in the few situations where a conal AoE is appropriate.

Occultation - This has been covered multiple times, but it deserves another mention. 7 Blink shadows in 1.5 seconds with a recast of a little over a minute. Sure, it isn't going to come close to replacing utsusemi, but in my experience it is very nice for getting Ichi up, or in between utsusemi cycles. It's worth noting that utsusemi overwrites it, too. I do a lot of duoing of T2~3 NMs in Abyssea with a WHM, and I can say that Occultation has made a large impact on the ease of such activities.

Dream Flower - A 15', nearly instant cast dark-based Sleepga that I've had last as long as 110 seconds, making it the most potent sleep spell in the game. However, given this fact, it does NOT overwrite other forms of sleep, nor itself, limiting its effectiveness if you have RDMs or BLMs overwriting it well before its duration expires.





There, that should put to rest most questions about these spell's effectiveness. I'm still testing some of them to find out just how far they'll go, but all in all, I'll say that this update was still a winner.



i thought this thread was dead due to wishing for HNM spells or something,so i made my own thread on delta thrust. how do ja spells do anyway? I didnt think abyssea got that insane with superbuffs.

One of the BLMs in my linkshell, who's almost got everything a BLM could want, normally hits 3.8k Waterjas on Iron Giants. I don't know how to do the math and whatnot to take a stab at how powerful the new one is, but saying Charged Whisker is somewhat comparable probably isn't far off. Bear in mind that macross himself stated that his BLU nuking set can do with a couple of upgrades; in fact, most BLUs have had dormant nuking sets until now, including myself. I'll do some concrete testing once I get a few more pieces, but for right now the nuke spells seem very promising.

P.S.: I've heard reports of Everyone's Grudge matching and surpassing Blizzard V.

Unfortunately, they added Mighty Guard to be one of Shinryu's TP moves, so it is incredibly unlikely that we will ever see that spell. My hopes are dashed and destroyed. D': It grants him Regain and restores his HP, I'm not sure if it gives him other buffs too.
