Is this seriously a proposition for skilling-up in XI? It teaches you nothing.
Armchair game directors....Less time capping = more time actually playing

it was a replay to someone in case you missed that.

if your dead you cant skill up can you? lest it can show people to count shadows, manage hate, or properly use /dnc or something.

in one of my abyssea parties i had a blue mage that was meleeing in that mage abyssea gear ( the cour 78 stuff) that would melee mobs and not even cast spells, would sit at full mp, lest if they tried to skill up on something they could have in the head * hmm maybe this is retarded* lest use headbutt and cures.

this is why i hate abyssea and the game is turing lately, people leech to 90, can do 30-90 under a day and all they learn is how to leech.

getting rid of skill ups alltogher would make it even worse, lest having some form of it would teach them something.

right now yes i agree its too slow, but i disagree getting rid of the system altogether.

wow is a different game, wow does not really use the skill system where FFXI does, your skill number tells you when you can use ws, can flesh out a gimp 90 vs someone that puts effort, it effects your attack and acc.

you really need to revamp this game to take skill system out, dought SE is able to do that. SE never had an update that can scale that would be needed for that.

(remember how they failed when they changed the dex and the damage of ws?)

Between soloing Athamas and soloing dominion I have to say that skillups are really not that difficult to gain, I am about 3 levels shy on evasion and katana from the current cap, they happen often enough if you are willing to burn about 15 stones low manning or soloing in abyssea areas.

So no skillups aren't hard, and I am now of the mind that they are easy to get if you use your brain.

But are they fun? Does their existence serve a purpose? The whole "You need 200 Scythe skill to use Guillotine" is easily answered by simply giving you capped skill at every level up.

It was fun enough going for a goal and getting skillups in the process. Dominion is funish. It's all a matter of how you approach the goals I suppose. Having capped skills is fun for the pwnage that ensues.

Anyone want to speculate what the skill caps will be for level 99?

I noticed that the higher levels were adding more skill per level as well, I am predicting 440ish skill with merits added for an A- weapon. But may go higher.

nether is killing x mob in x weather.

i really do not see how you can say the goal of FFXi is not to be a time sink

If thier goal was to be fun I can see your point, but i dont think it ever was

The goal of all mmos is to be a time sink. The only difference is whether or not the player notices it.

In 11 we all can clearly see what areas are built to take up our time. Just as wow players can see it in that game. I think we wouldn't care as much about time sinks of SE would wise up and remove the useless ones.

I see the need for timesinks, but this is just getting silly. In a single party, I went from being capped for my level to being 46 points behind. And it's not like I was leeching or AFK half the time either. Out of the 85 skill points needed to go from 75 to 90, I didn't even get half of them. I guess they really expect us to merit the hell out of our jobs or something.

And that is the "needless" time sink we need to lose fir the future of 11 :)

Oh yes Banter, there is too much agreement on this topic so an attempt to call Q_Q is very much needed. Congratulations!

To elaborate, this is not a call for making enemies easier, or any nonsense like that. I say, let the hard parts of the game stay difficult, let the needless parts fade away.

But according to banter, even something like the old level requirement decrease that happened years ago was just a cop out (Q_Q Old ffxi players, lulz).

I guess he'll cry 'easy-mode' until SE actually changes something, then he'll happily play along with the rest of us appreciating the change.

Sounds like you just aren't good enough for FFXI.
