Depends on what your standard of epic is.
But I think the point of the game itself is Disney going "hey we can make non-kiddy games!!11!"

I think the game is pretty fun. Really easy game, but the environment and the story itself is pretty awesome. Shows you a lot of Disney's forgotten time in a real messed up way, haha.

I have yet to play it, but I hear the overarching complaint is the horrid camera. Other than that, people are saying it accomplished what it set out to do. Vel, is the messed-up steam punk undead Goofy in the game?

The camera and controls are among the worst I've seen in a platformer, which is a real damn shame because the game itself is beautifully atmospheric, creative and clever, it just happens to control like a bag of bowling balls on a skateboard. Spoiled the whole damn game for me, but if you can get over it and don't mind wrestling with the camera chances are you'll find something to like.

That makes me conflicted. I've been looking forward to this game for months now, so much so that I bought a new (read: old) copy of Castle of Illusion. But poor control + bad camera = shit no matter how good the rest of the game is.

I 100% agree on this. It feels like no effort was put into making a decent camera. And it becomes a big hassle when you are in those moments where you don't want the camera messing up on you.
People who can't tolerate indecent camera controls won't get into this, but just going through this game is quite a unique experience.

Well, that depends how willing you are to adapt, I guess. I wasn't willing to put in the effort necessary to learn to use Epic Mickey's shitty controls/camera, but I don't doubt it can be done. Once you've adapted to the awkwardness, it might be an enjoyable experience.
To put it in perspective, think of the PS1 Resident Evil games. Fixed, often awkward camera angles and slow, robotic tank controls. Universally maligned in this day and age, but ask any older RE fans about them and they'll tell you that once you get your head around the control system and adapt to its fucked-up nature, it works fine.
To use another 3D platformer as an example, consider Psychonauts. Yes, I know, brilliant game, it's art, underrated, etc. But its controls are actually pretty bad. Raz doesn't immediately stop running when you release the analogue stick, and there's a pretty big delay between pressing jump and the little guy actually jumping. This is, of course, a god-awful combination of control mistakes. Its camera is also less than co-operative on some of the busier levels. But once you adapt to it, and learn to pre-emptively adjust the camera and start releasing the analogue stick or hitting jump a second earlier than you need to, it works fine and the game is still brilliant.
Of course, Epic Mickey's control problems are quite a bit more severe than RE's or Psychonaut's. Normally I'd suggest renting it first, but the truth is the first 2/3rds of the game are so easy that the shitty controls don't matter much. It's only in the last part of the game that the difficulty spikes and those terrible control choices really become annoying, so renting it probably won't give you a good idea of just how bad it can get.

Dumbest post of the week, all weeks.
Flames from you are like getting a $5 hand job. Yeah, you know you got one, but it has all the excitement of stuffing your dick into a sweaty plastic bag.

True, dat. I guess I should be willing to give it a try. After all, I did get used to RE's camera/control scheme, so who knows.

the shitty camera/controls helped make the games somewhat scarier with the older games...silent hill, original re, all retarded tank controls, and sub par camera/view ranges, but it helped...

He's been around for almost a century. That's pretty epic.
Maybe.. but still.. ohh I don't know..! I just can't address the character to "epic" as my definition of "epic" seems to have different standards..
If "badass" is an element in favour.. for one.. I really can't put Mickey Mouse and Ezio Auditore on the same boat.. :/ It's like saying "Oh Ezio is badass but how would he do against Mickey Mouse??" /facepalm..

Oh yeah.. clash of the century.. u.u

Fuck, you're a special kind of idiot, aren't you? There's more to it than describing the character. It's also a comment on his journey, which is what the word "epic" is really all about.

In all fairness, it is really hard to find a good Disney game that doesn't have Kingdom Hearts in the title. I haven't actually played an entertaining pure Disney game since Mickey's Magical Quest for the SNES.
So in that perspective, yes, this Mickey is quite epic. Putting Mickey in a darker setting for a game and being successful is something I would call epic.

Oh come on..! Okay.. following your train of thought, it would be epic to make a movie like The Matrix starring Teletubbies for example(although maybe exagerating) huh..? Cause who cares if they're kiddy characters, they're in some badass slowmo fights.. but say, mickey isn't a kiddy character is he..? Don't get me wrong.. I always liked Mickey.. I used to read MIckey Mouse comics when I was young.. but in that context it all seems uncompatible to me..!
