Looking at this and the other AF3 they released for smn and some other (Augmentable) gear with things like Refresh on them I am actually wondering why people still bother with Magian perpetuation staves...
And with Abyssea and their Atmas perpetuation cost itself has nearly become a non-issue itself.

Just a thought, but if you could come up with gear that puts your perpetuation cost @ 0 without the need of refresh atma's, that means another DD atma to stack onto your avatar, yes?

Could think so too, except even outside Abyssea unless SE plans to drasticly add to perpetuation cost at 99 we're looking at a huge reduction with AF3 and other sources already.
In non-situational gear and traits:
-4 from the Caller's Doublet +2
-3 from the Caller's Pigaches +2
-2 From Caller's horn +2
-2 from auto-refresh 1 and 2
-1 from Nashira Gages
-1 From the WotG earring if you picked that augment.
-2 From Favor

Perpetuation cost at 81 -> 90 for Celestial avatars is 14 MP per tick which means you don't even need a perpetuation reducing weapon and you'd even get MP back.
Add in even a Signa or NQ elemental staves and the Caller's Horn +2 will also gain you MP or you can leave Favor out of the equation.
Situationally you can add smn horn for an extra point of reduction and 3 more points of reduction from Caller's Bracers +2 with weather spells from /sch.
Or go as /rdm and refresh yourself.

I don't know what SE is planning perpetuation wise at 99 but it can't be so drastic that you'd need magian staves to compensate for that.
Right now, I'll just keep hanging on to my Bahamut's, because AF3+2 gear doesn't look that hard to get, just time consuming and in between I think I'll manage just fine with the gear I have now.

I think the Magian staves are still worth doing, because you don't really gain much otherwise from staves. This has allowed me to actually stop using some of my other perp down items. Nashira Gages for example, I don't use them anymore. Here is my current idle setup for Garuda:

Caller's Pendant

Caller's Doublet +2
Summoner's Bracers +1
Bifrost Ring
Evoker's Ring
Astute Cape

Evoker's Spats
Caller's Pigaches +2

With this setup, I'm getting 3mp/tick with Garuda out, and that's without using Refresh spell/atma or (lol) avatar's favor. If I Refresh myself that's 6mp/tick right there. Once I finish WoTG for that earring it'll be 7mp/tick.

I don't have the Caller's Bracers upgraded yet, but I don't plan to make any use of their day/weather perp down. I've already got a free avatar, all this would really let me do is do something like wear Summoner's Pigaches +1 while idling for more avatar attack & enmity. Just doesn't seem worth it, too easy to get free avatars now without having to worry about conditional bonuses.

Another nice thing about those staves is the BP -10 on the final stage. Probably not a big deal for a lot of people since so many use Windower macros, but for me this helped my macros a lot by requiring almost no gear swapping before a BP. I just toss on the Yinyang Robe for a second and then back to Caller's +2.
