Laptop compatibility Q 4 FFXIV

I have a Sony Vaio laptop model # PCG-7173L. After I downloaded the FFXIV software update version for the first (and 2nd, and 3rd..)

time, it allows me to type in my user name/PW/sec code then when i click on "Play", it goes 2 a black screen with a white pop up box

and says "Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution" then it kicks me out every time. My questions

are:

1) Is this laptop compatible to run FFXIV?

2) Shouldn't compatibility not even be a question at the time of error? If it isnt an issue, I would think it would still allow me into the
game but the video processor wouldn limit my operation in-game.

I appreciate the feedback.

Can you give me the specs of your laptop?

This model is no longer listed on Sony's eSupport site.

Also, if your laptop has an Intel GMA or Intel HD 3000 or 4000 series graphics chip, there is a known compatibility issue where FFXIV will not start after logging in, and will simply just crash. The Intel HD is also inside many low end Intel i5 and i3 CPUs and more often than not do not come with faster dedicated graphics processing units (GPU). This tells me that FFXIV is NOT compatible with any Intel integrated graphics chips, or any integrated GPUs for that matter. That, or it's a driver issue.

A driver update for a friend didn't fix it but if you can update the driver for this and check if it doesn't crash for you.
