Welcome to, Hyperion
Hyperion was one of the twelve Titans of Ancient Greece, the sons and daughters of Gaia and Ouranos, which were later supplanted by the Olympians. He was the brother of Cronus. He was also the lord of light, and the Titan of the east.

With so many strange or interesting names around.... one wonders why people chose the names they did?

Was it random from the server?
Did you think about it?
Have you used it in other games?
Is it a family name?

I wanted to use my XI name, but couldn't figure out what to use for a last name. I wanted to bring a bit of COR with me so I decided to use Setzer's last name since he was the first true gambler in the FF series, and Corrderio Gabbiani just seems to roll off the tounge.

My first name is from Kainé from the game NieR, in facts I would have used the accented "e" at the end of the name to avoid misspelling but it wasn't allowed either by KI and FFXIV..
However.. I chose it because I liked the character alot.. her attitude and she's just badass.. xd
The last name is from NieR's japanese 360 version.. named NieR Gestalt.. (the only version that was released for both 360 and p3 in western countries..)
You know, there's also a Kaine Replicant on Lindblum.. her last name is from the japanese Ps3 version called NieR Replicant.. and no that's not me.. xd

Yeah.. her outfit is pretty skimpy.. but there's a reason behind that.. not just fanservice... u.u;
Also to be able to fight on those heels.. she must be pretty good.. xd

To be honest, I don't see how he/she being a hermaphrodite as well as being possessed by a shade would warrant that kind of outfit. <_<

By the way.. she was also not an hermaphrodite when she was a human..

I'd be OK with it if she had just a tad more butt covering...

Anyway, my character name is Lusavari Rosenrot.

It's not a server generation

I tend to create character names based on sounds I like, and obscure mythologies. Sounds I like tend to include V's, Z's, R's, T's, and A's. So I tend to think up sounds or syllables made of those sounds, stick them together, and create an original never before heard name. V is sort of my signature thing, so that always makes it in. I also wanted to keep the Vari part of my name. Had I gone Hyur, I'd have been Varizio Zenalli. That was my Alpha name as well.

Secondly, I wanted to play Hellsguard to be different this time, which is a red race, especially since I planned to play the reddest skin color I could. So I figured some sort of color eluding name would be nice, but I didn't want to be to obvious with it. Crimson and Scarlett and the like are already common. I also thought that since Varizen meant something in German (though I had no clue at the time) I should stick with a German sound. I also wanted to dip into some obscure mythology, so I went with a compound meaning one. I started with a song by Rammstein, which was a combination of a Brothers Grimm alternative Snow White (it was not the same Snow White as in the traditional story, but still an alternative version of the story) and a Poem. The Poen is called "Heidenröslein" (The Hidden Rose) The Song was a reference to the poem, and the story, And in the story, Snow White had a younger sister named Rose Red, or in German.... Rosenrot. In German, R's are pronounced with a bit of a "w" sound so it's more like "wrosenwrot." The story is called "Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot"

Anyway, The Tale of Snow White and Rose Red basically involves 2 sisters, they meet a Dwarf who's got in a trap, the help him, he yells at them and disappears. Later they meet a bear, who needs a place to stay for the winter, so the girls invite him to stay with them and their mother. Once winter passes the bear thanks them, and leaves saying he must find a dwarf, as the dwarf stole something of importance to him. They end up meeting the dwarf again, and he threatens them, and the bear comes along and kills the dwarf before their eyes, and the bear then turns into a prince claiming that he'd been cursed by the dwarf. Anyway, The prince marries Snow White, and his brother marries Rose Red. As for the Poem, it talks about a Rose growing in a field, and a boy comes along and picks it, and its thorns do nothing to protect it:

Saw a boy a little rose,
little red rose on the heath,
young and lovely like the morning.
So he ran to have a close
look at it, and gladly did.
Little rose, little rose,
little red rose on the heath.

Said the boy: I will pick
you, my red rose on the heath!
Said the rose: I will prick
you and I won't stand it,
and you won’t forget me.
Little rose, little rose,
little red rose on the heath.

And the rough boy picked the rose,
little red rose on the heath,
and the red rose fought and pricked,
yet she cried and sighed in vain,
and had to let it happen.
Little rose, little rose,
little red rose on the heath.

Anyway, the Rammstein song is about a young pair of lovers, and the girl sees a rose high atop a mountain, and decides she must have it, and asks her boyfriend to go get it for her. He can't refuse her so he begins to climb the mountain, and as he approaches the rose, high atop the mountain, the rocks he's standing on crumble and he falls to his death.

So yeah. All that comes together to create my name Lusavari Rosenrot, which I think is a name fit for a warrior and a good character.

Anyway, for the last 2 questions...

No, I tend to dislike using 1 name to much. I'm of the strong opinion that the same person shouldn't be out saving multiple worlds. It really devalues the character, especially the more you do it.

And nope, it's all original.

Can anyone beat me for thought put into a name? :P

Meh, expressing one's feminity doesn't require one to go to such extreme lengths, in my opinion. Oh, well. It doesn't really matter.

The Poen is called "Heidenröslein" (The Hidden Rose).

Varizen is a medical ailment, if you don't happen to know yet: http://upload.wikime...icose-veins.jpg

And the translation of Heidenröslein would be "Rose on the Heath", as far as I know.

Anyway, to stay on-topic: I'm somewhat similar to Varizen with my preference of the letters like R, V, A, Y, X and T, so most of my names are randomly conceived names usually including at least a few of those letters.

A good friend of mine came up with the name I used, I in turn came up with hers. Sadly she no longer plays.

Right, thanks for the correct translation. And as for Varizen, I was rather urked when I learned what it meant. A friend of mine pointed it out to me, at which point I exclaimed "... DAMMIT!"

I found that out 2 years after starting FFXI. Goes to show something completely random can have an odd meaning.

I wanted something super-different from my FFXI name, Stryker.

I happened to be working on a story concept at the time involving Magical Girls.

Crimson Moon is the name of the antagonist; later becomes a friend and partner to the protagonist, Morning Star.

if i make a non miqo'te it'll probly be my forum name, renzuko, which was just something i thought of when making my char in 11, if i make a miqo'te, its gonna be mingx, which depressingly came to be after my brother grabbed a dictionary, flipped to a page, and told me to add x to the word ming, after id spent nearly an hour trying to think of a better name...

last name both ways would be alaran/alaranoh, i always try alaran first, if its not available i add the oh to the end >.>

Funny how we put so much thought into our internet names, when our parents probably just didn't want our real names being weird.

In any case, my name is a derivative and a fusion of the Ancient Greek term for "Time apart from a quantitative standpoint" and the greek letter "Chi" for its ties to things of an ethereal nature.

Basically it could be described as "God's time" or "a passing instant when an opening appears which must be driven through by force if success is to be achieved".

This name, however, was not given by myself to myself.

In my college years, a friend of mine gave it to before a Capture-the-flag Halo match. Incidentally, my weapon and style of play happen to mirror the idea of "taking the moment" to precisely strike. Among the group of people I knew and who played the game, I was the best pistol-user. I was known for driving straight through and sticking to my target without hesitation.

Because it was given to me, I take much pride in my "name". :)
