I guarantee SE will be back on it's feet as soon as FFvXII, XIII Agito, and whenever they decide to make Final Fantasy XV, hoping they don't make it online.

In other news, I love the new HD quality character sprites for this game. Like the look more than the DS version.

They are basically using FF1 and 2's sprite models for the game, but there is nothing wrong with that, I thought they were pretty awesome.

I wouldn't mind it if they decide to remake the 16bit FF's in the same way they made 3D Dot Game Heroes. That would be something.

i was initially quite against this remake, but it actually looks really good..
now i'm hoping they'll do FF3, 5 and 6 in HD2D like this.

my initial disapproval stems mostly from the fact that a 3D version already exists. it just seemed odd from a business point of view. perhaps they thought the 3D version didnt do the original game justice..

im hoping that this complete collection will try to add everything from all the remakes of FFiV, save the whole 3D gfx thing. I'd love to see Whyt, Geryon, Augments, Trials dungeon and so on...

My theory is that they are remaking games that were the high points of Squares history with video games. Notice how many times Final Fantasy 1 and 4 have been remade. These games were major hits in Japan and somewhat in NA/EU, and these remakes sell to those nostalgia fans. Sort of like a "We need to keep our old customers in the loop" type of thing. FF7 is pretty much the company's pinnacle of success, so I always guessed that it will be remade whenever the company is in a real shit hole, and this is a perfect trump card.

As much as I loved FFIV DS, I actually appreciate the HD sprites a lot more than the 3D, I would love the concept they have used in their PSP remakes for FF3, 5, and 6. That would technically make FF1-9 available on the PSP.

The game comes out over here on Apr. 19th, 2011. That is a lot sooner than I expected.
