Well thank you captain obvious.. however gamespot doesn't specify anything of the above, does it..? Meaning all you have to do is listen to the music and rate it.. since the name of the award is actually "Best Original Music"..Rating the soundtrack the way you stated above would mean playing in depth all of the games that have been nominated and surely nobody will in less than a month.. as for me I have played only Nier in that list.. That's something the editors have probably done..Reader's choice doesn't matter much anyways.. it's a joke and known to be just a popularity contest won by fanboys..We'll see who wins the editor's choice.. I expect them to have at least some serious judgement..

Apparently it wasn't so obvious since that's what I've been saying since you started this inane thread. I'll just have to assume your feeble mind can't expand upon an idea beyond what you immediately see (or read). Here's an idea: let's give an award for Best Original Folly Work. It doesn't matter what's happening on screen. All that matters is that it sounds awesome.

And if it doesn't matter, why are you here? A little knowledge for you: Gamespot partners with Raptr, a video game trending site that tracks game play time and how many people play the game. Players of course, have to sign up and link their various IDs or gamertags. 500 people played the 360 version of Neir and just over 700 on the PS3. There are over 100,000 players signed up to Raptr. Regardless of fanboyism, how can you seriously expect a vast majority to vote for the damn game?

I love Nier's soundtrack. It's one of the only works of music I can pull away from the game and appreciate on its own.

However

I was speaking with a friend of mine today about good music from video games and we both agreed that much of what moves us, as far as the music of a game goes, is the music's coordination with the elements around which it is placed.

I mean we all can remember some great orchestral pieces from our yesteryears of gaming. The Chrono Triggers, the Chrono Crosses, the Final Fantasy Vs. We all know what it is to pull music from games and enjoy them by itself. We also know what it is to be moved in game by music and then once the game is off, to forget it all together yet still consider the music to be "amazing".

I mean I absolutely love the music used in the entirety of XI. But I'd be hard pressed to convince someone to appreciate it on its own.

HA. HA. You a funny man. I kill you last.

Even if you JUST focus on fighting gamers, half of them already lost interest, and the other half are deciding whether to hate it or tolerate it because of day 1 DLC characters.

Well its just a personal opinion. I've been following MvC 3 since it was announced this July. The wait gets more and more exciting with each new character reveal.

What a farce.. RDR won the editors' choice almost in everything it was nominated.. even for the best original music.. what a disappointment.. -.-
It was obvious there were fanboys even inside gamespot's staff members..

Kaine you know it's more of a popularity contest.

Regardless of any latent creativity, the award, at best, will go to the game that not only reached the most people but also got great publicity.
