Another thing i will state. You say that complaining is what will make SE change things in ffxiv but how will "This game is garbage" "SE made a crap game" help SE make the game any better, also people complain about the player base being small.... who would want to plain a game if they come into forums and see everyone complaining about it. if i listen to all the complaints and decided not to buy the game (bought it last week after reading about complaints for months) i wouldn't of found how much i loved ffxiv. my suggestion is Give correct criticism instead of bashing. I understand that magazines gave it a bad review and SE screwed us over many times. But if you want something to get better you should Help make it better instead of sitting back and crying all day.
Dont say "well i submitted stuff to SE and they still haven't fixed anything" im sure SE gets 1000's of emails a day takes time to correct everything. So far from what i can see especially from DEC update they are listening and are trying to fix everything. (not sure if its from a direct correlation between the investor pulling out or just he mass amount of emails) but they are going the right way gotta give them some credit even though they should of done it a long time ago.

A good amount of what is wrong with ffxiv is listed in this thread. It would actually be easier to make a list of what is good than it is to point out the things that are bad. They have let down the MMO crowd and a majority of their existing FFXI audience has been disappointed. I feel bad for the PS3 users that have been waiting for this game. It's only a matter if time before they will be on the boards complaining.

The release of the shit pile that is FFXIV has made me purchase Cataclysm.

People saying "This game is garbage" and nothing else are giving helpful criticism by just saying that, even if it would be more helpful for them to elaborate further. If SE is reading feedback and is constantly seeing people call the game a piece of shit, chances are they need to keep working hard and meet player demands. If they're seeing people praise the game more often than they're shitting on it, maybe they can relax a bit. It is helpful overall.

Poeple are giving them some credit for things done right, but the amount of credit some people think they deserve is completely unrealistic. Overall the game still sucks and the patches thus far have been bad content wise and usually full of bugs or stupid oversights. How anyone could think this December patch is anything other than a load of crap is beyond me, as this was supposed to be the content patch. People will credit them when/if the game is decent, not before. If you think it's the best game in the world right now, good for you honestly, but most people playing think it's one of the worst.

This game needs a giant dragon to come through and reshape the world.

That sounds boring, dragons are so lame.

They should make a quest where you're asked to scout out a tower and then suddenly, out of nowhere, you're attacked by a gang of ferocious, bloodthirsty rats!

Oh nuts, it's already been done. Well I'm out of ideas.

The problems of this game stem from alpha 1, most things that people compained about in aplha 1 to beta existed at full release.

when someone tells you we learn from our mistakes and repeats the same problems people will be pissed.

for the crafting, with the current state of the UI the timer needs to be gone or make longer. I do not care much for the agurment you have to think about day time last orb or whatnot, what i care about is making sure the command I enter is the right one. My friend wants rapid synth deleted or a way to block hitting it. She hits it by mistake sometimes and points out " it is like hitting brake your synth button, I rather hit bold by mistake then rapid". The way abilites pop up and you get the scroll in the crafting makes it hard to pick the command at times, add with trying to talk you can be fighting the controls.

because of that yes take the timer out till you improve the UI and give a legit reason for needing it.

it is dumb you have to sit there 3-5 mins or risk braking, i may have to go afk or something.

I would go and say FFXIV has too much timed shit.

I can semi-agree. I think Square-Enix is quite aware that their game has not met the satisfaction of the majority of subscribers. I don't think it is quite necessary to kick them while they are in the dirt anymore, not only that, it doesn't give them proper feedback on that they need to be working on.

It is like me breaking something valuable, and people behind me keep calling me an idiot when I am trying to fix it. I know I am one and I am trying to fix the problem, you don't need to keep reminding me. Haha. :P

I could also sound rash whenever I talk about FFXIV, but that is simply because I expect a lot and have high expectations whenever a new Final Fantasy game comes out. So this was a major disappointment to me. I do want to see this game improved, and I want to have fun with it, and from how the new director is describing his ideas, I have hope that the game will flourish into a much better game than it is right now. The man knows MMO concepts from what he says and knows what people want.

But in all fairness, the core concept of FFXIV is great, and that is what is probably appealing to you, Hackysacky. The being able to create your own class system in general is a great idea, battles can be fun, and the storyline is actually really good from what I experienced with it so far. My problem is, for every good thing that FFXIV has, there is at least 2-3 problems around it that makes it feel like a chore to play.

So let's continue to give SE the proper feedback it needs and try to hold back a little bit on kicking them in the dirt. I have been guilty of this myself at times.

yep i pointed that out ealier, pointed out crafting in detal

good;
crafting in new and interactive and can be fun.

bad:
menus
laggy UI
talking can be a chore, esp replaying to tells.
text vanish when starting, finishing a craft ( should be noted it was worse when the game was new text would vanish after each command while crafting/ gathering)
gets old fast with how slow rank up is

battle system

good:
versatility in customization
no loljob

bad:
targeting (you can auto target lock on dead mobs and stuff><)
laggy UI/commands
stamina gauge can cock block some classes from performing like the need to like a tanking gladiator.

I played FFXI for 6 years, and I played in the FFXIV beta and I'm desperate to find something to fill my time until Tera or Star Wars releases this year. I wont touch FFXIV even for a time waster.

Just got done with DC Universe online beta and it was fucking fun as hell. i will be getting it tues. Im just passing the time for star wars and yes maybe when ffxiv starts to get a good rap ill come back to it.
