I don't think any of you other Fairy people know me really but I wanted to say hiya. I quit about 3 years ago, give or take, and was wondering how the game is going and if it was worth coming back to, if I should move over to XIV, or if XIV is really kinda meh.

I must say I'm pretty upset Fairy seems to have died. What happened there?

FFXI is going through a bit of a Renaissance and turning back into a really good game, where XIV is so terrible that they fired most of the people in charge and are revamping it. If you're set on XIV, wait 3-6 months, and if not, go play XI.

I quit WoW about a month after Cata released, shit got too stale. I ding 85 and start grinding rep with a new group of giants (ok, elementals) to get new shoulder enchants while queueing up for tedious dungeons with more trash than necessary to get poorly itemised gear while wearing a tabard to increase my reputation with some backwater catpeople so I can do some raids with recycled raid bosses and the same god damned mechanics I've seen for the past 4 years all while watching retards spam chat with Anal Dirge.

Fuck that.

Old fairy player here also, just purchased ffxi off of steam for $4.99 waiting for the huge ass update to complete. Kinda sad that Fairy went down but meh, hello Sylph

I play FFXI on nights only. If you enjoy speed leveling, almost-never-dying, easy ways of soloing and nothing to buy, then ffxi is perfect. Actually, there's a plethora of rare/ex items you could get just by taking a few moments to kill the NMs/quest. The game has changed much, noting the fact that people really don't level anymore beyond 30, and you could solo/duo to 30 in 3 hours Go figure.

FFXIV is trash and should always be regarded as such until Ps3 release is determined. Don't waste your time, money, or computer space installing that garbage, you'll just be disappointed with the legendary suck of a game that it is. But give it a few months, and ffxiv will be the shit.

Also, you probably don't need a boatload of gil in ffxi anymore. I pretty much quested all of the telescrolls, BLM scrolls, and Brown belt, sold it, and made out with a hefty profit when I switched to a economic server. Set for life. (Hint, dont go to sylph. The prices on some of the shit is ridiculous compared to other servers- (Black Cotehardie went from 230k-40k in 2 weeks????)

Also, <job>/dnc pretty much is your escape to soloing anything, so if you're a solo player like me, I suggest you level that up right away. Really comes in handy.

Redoing teleport and blm scroll quests was a fucking god-send. My highest job is 31 and I'm sitting on 900k, which is enough to buy every damn thing I need until 90. I still have 3 telescrolls to do, too. 15k haubergeon made me lol.

Whats even sadder is having 900k and having nothing useful to buy. Seriously, there are a few cool expensive pieces here and there that still leave their mark towards the higher levels, but not much else to buy besides food and ninja tools, and even the latter is debatable now. Add to that the fact that prices spike up and down now since items are rarely ever in stock, its like trying to camp a new console that was just released; Good luck camping AH for items.

Just wait til you finish Sleepga2. Sold it for 900k on my server. I have yet to spend a penny of that gil yet.

I saw the Abyssea collection for $19 and finally came back. 33% download right now, then I have to disconnect my monitor, hook it up to my old PC with all my macros and then email myself all of the files. I think I'm finally done with WoW. It's somewhat ironic. I'm leaving WoW for the game I left to play WoW.
