I don't know if this is a Diabolos thing, but uh, There are only like 5 people in Valkurm. So, it's hard to level, since soloing sucks in FFXI. Any suggestions on how a level 10 SCH can level up in anyway? >_> It's so lonely with out any parties here.

I did solo WHM and BLM from 1 to 18 cause there were no parties around. as soon as I hit 18 things got better since I just got people to do worms in qufim.

FoV Pages are good. There is a spot in west raunfaure, south of the lake, at level 10 the monsters there are EP, but with the boost in exp you get from EP since that update in 2008 or 2009, you can do some good solo/duoing there at level 10 up until around level 16 I think. And then it slows down, by then you can go into La theine.

Took me around 4-5 hours to get from 1 to 18 soloing doing FoV's.

I think I stayed in the beginning area till like 13-14, then went to Kons.

I went /bst and just kept charmin EP and killing off EP and DC mobs and it was going so good I even took my LFP tag off.

As a rule I tried to avoid parties prior to Qufim as it is too much headache. Subbing Beastmaster will let you easily get to where you can begin using Black Mage solo camps, around 13 - 15 I suggest you move to Sarutabaruta [S] because Pachypodium vs Pachypodium or Rarab vs Pachypodium can really speed things along. At 18 you can put together a worm sync party in Qufim, which should take you to the mid 20s in no time. At that stage in the game, soloing BST pets will likely be most viable, however keep your flag up and a warp scroll handy in case someone wants to do an actual party. After 30 though, you are largely on your own thanks to people Abyssea-burning their jobs. (which I'll confess, I doubt I'd have levelled BLM to cap without, but thanks to having RDM already at cap, came out slightly less gimp.)

With the new update EP's giving 100xp it makes low leveling solo a lot faster, plus FoV can be done more than once a game day now makes it way more easier to level the low jobs. Have fun hang in there it gets better.

To add to what everyone said, you should probably stay in the entrance zone (gustaberg, ronfaure, sarutabaruta) until level 15 or so anyways. I did this on my PLD before the FoV was every day, and I still got it to 15 in a matter of 3 hours or so. You just have to be selective in what you kill and get buffs from book. Basically, don't fight things that have lots of HP/defense and require a bunch of time. Things like bees, worms, vultures, and saplings are easy monsters at that level and should give comparable exp, especially after that update. I imagine with the FoV thinggy constant, you could probably solo your way to 30 in a matter of a a couple of days.
