With Abyssea being "finished", is the time of empyrean coming to an end?
Will future updates start to shine more light back on Relics (maybe even Mythics), lessening the gap of how powerful one is over the other?
Or, is this just progression and SE is just fazing out more old content?

The underlying question here is not being asked:

Will Abyssea remain relevant at level 99?

That's pretty much what really matters. The difference between a Spharai Monk using Ascetic's Fury and a Verethragna Monk using Victory Smite is not spectacular outside of Abyssea, but in Abyssea, Spharai is disadvantaged. At present, certain jobs are beating the pants off most others outside of Abyssea simply because of built-in advantages because all non-Abyssea content is about level 85 at maximum.

Of course, almost a decade of FFXI should have taught us by now that SE really doesn't obsess about balance. They certainly do not have the kind of extensive spreadsheets that Blizzard's developers and customers have to assess and balance World of Warcraft to within a narrow margin.

As for Mythic weapons, I'd certainly like to see them actually be relevant for once outside of Yagrush and Death Penalty. I strongly doubt they ever will be.

Mythics were never meant to do more damage than relics, which is going to keep them from ever being relevant.

At 75 a lot of mythices where dumb because of the needing 300 tp for the OaT. When finding that out they became a big turn off.

my issue with the game is this, casters (BLM,SCH) and a caster stance RDM have no true "relic"

I talked to a bst before that said the mythic axe was very good based on how it boosts the pet.

death plenty? how does that compare to the emperan on even ground ( i.e non abbysea)

and i thought the SMN mythic was also good.

I am not wide versed at 90 now how the upgrades change things.

but i know enough how much razed ruin effects things, if 99 has real endgame and its not in abyssea then the situation will be a different story.

I do want to know though if SE intends of relic > emperan > mythic or relic > mythic> emperan. ( for non casters, we know SE has no clue how to give status to those jobs)

even with relics the ws for the relics are wide spread.

some ws are lol and never used
some may be used for SC
some are used full time
some may be used off and on for afthermath

even before the other 2 tairs of weapons SE didn't do a good job of balancing the relics and their ws.

I would have to say mythics for the most part will be phased out unless the upgrades are huge for them, on current track though they will be phased out.

the newest jobs like BLU,PUP, DNC would most likey be hands down emperaon.
