SE is bringing hope to the relaunch of Eidos's series.

Talk about going far on making her look like a newbie.

She definitely looks prettier than she has in recent titles. So sick on the Angelina Jolie look. I do not find Angelina attractive at all.

You know, I've never been a fan of the Tomb Raider franchise. In fact, I've strongly disliked every Tomb Raider game I've ever played with the exception of Guardian of Light, but I'm actually really looking forward to this. If they do it right, it could be brilliant. I'm anticipating a game in which Lara is a novice, not an all-powerful cocky ultra-acrobat with serious shooting skills.

Usually, this genre is filled with acrobatic heroes hopping and swinging swiftly and fluidly from wall to wall and ledge to ledge, making it all look effortless. If this game is what it looks like - a harsh, brutal slog through unforgiving terrain as an unprepared, ill-equipped, inexperienced hero trying desperately to survive - it could be brilliant. It could redefine its genre along with rebooting its franchise.

Of course, those are high hopes to pin on a series that hasn't been genuinely good since the 32 bit era by anyone's standards. But I'll keep a hopeful eye on this, for sure.

I agree, she was getting ridiculously hot to a fault, to the point it was hard to take her seriously. This new look may give me the opportunity to appreciate the character.

Did you only play Legends and Underworld? Because 1-4 were the best, and were most puzzle solving and quite good. If you did play those and didn't like'em fine, but if you only played the new ones, there's a reason Eidos went under.

I know I'm not really supposed to be posting here anymore but I just couldn't help it when I saw these screenshots.
Tomb Raider has always been one of the more cutting-edge games for me, maybe because my mum and I have been playing them since I was very little, way back when the PS One was the uber system of the day. I've gotta say I am loving the new Lara, the unreal skin-thin with massive tits, huge ass and even bigger lips wore thin very very quickly in Underworld. I mean, look at the difference;

Sorry boys, but the real-world look is just too good.
Also, the fact that SE have taken this one under their wing is very enticing. Hopefully the difficulty will be much better than the last (crappy) game.

*girly squeal time* Ooooohhhhhh I'm just too excited!!

Let's make the new Tomb Raider more realistic but at the same time make it completely inconceivable that anyone could actually do these things.

I love the expressions on Lara's face. It reminds me of how Resident Evil 4 turned out. I'm certainly gonna be following this game as it develops

I highly doubt it. You can always tell Crystal Tools by the hair.

Crystal Tools was developed largely for more realistic hair. The theory had to do with making finer and thinner particles with more realistic physics applied to them for HD purposes, and hair being one of the hardest things to realistically display. Hair and clothes. Her hair is to clumped. It's made of larger textured polygons instead of lots of individually rendered strands.

Yep, what he said. Crystal Tools is SE's toy, not Eidos. Eidos is owned by SE, and simply that. Most of what goes on with the Tomb Raider games, SE has no involvement with it except financially.

I am glad that Tomb Raider is getting a reboot. I was a tad worried in the direction the game was going during the PS2 era, then hooked me back in with Guardian of the Light. The way the game looks, I have a strong feeling that some elements from Uncharted may come into play, which is not bad by any means. I look forward to how this game will turn out.

I agree they aren't using CT, but I think these pictures may be a comparison between FF13 CGI and TR in-game graphics. Lightning's in-game model hair is made of textured polygons as well. The brilliance in the real-time hair shader for her in FF13 was, I beileve, that they colored the backfaces of the polygons (largely with blue and magenta) and allowed some transmission (I think...). Also, strands of wet hair cling together more than dry hair. Just a few reasons these pics might be so different...

The skin shader in FF13 was another one that jumped out at me with its impressive real-time SSS and fuzz effects. Hopefully, TR will implement those, too. Lara's skin does look pretty amazing...

The trailer was pretty grim, which is fine by me. Noticed some manner of slo-mo effect though, which doesn't fill me with much hope.

Gotta rip off the bullet time from Max Payne of course.

Don't you love all the grunts and moans she makes in the trailer? Seems like if someone walked in and didn't know what I was watching they would think it was pornography.

Looks like somebody told them Uncharted was really popular. I'm content to wait and see though, Eidos rarely let me down.
