Worth coming back...? Rate Topic: -----

Hello,

I am a long time veteran of FFXI, and started playing during PC beta. I quit around 8 months ago, but I am considering coming back.

My question relates to older content. I have read that Abyssea is now the primary thing that people do, but do people still do older content (is it even worth it)? I enjoy camping HNM's, Dynamis, Einherjar, Sky etc. Do people still do these events, or is the gear too out-dated now?

Thank you in advance for any helpful information.

Some LS still find excuses to do Dynamis and Einherjar, and random groups will still camp the big 3 for BB items, but otherwise most of the stuff is obsolete.

Dynamis is alot easier. You'll still need things like Rdm's refresh hat, Sam's meditate and Thf's TH gloves. You just can't find that kind of gear in abyssea on the same slot.

I haven't tried Salvage since the last update. Problems like that Rampart that refuses to spawn the NM are probably still there.

Einherjar is dead. Abjurations and weapons from there are obsolete or the cursed pieces cannot be bought/crafted. The RoleMart is virtually gone.

Sky is mostly empty. Byakko's haidate and Kirin's Osode are still very nice pieces. cursed armor for Hecatomb, Adaman, and some pieces of zenith/crimson/shura are still sold on the AH (Ragnarok, anyway).

Sea pieces are alright, although choosing between a torque and a Empyrean JSE collar will usually be no-contest for the jse.

Proto-Omega/Ultima equipment's obsolete, but the Abyssean rewards for killing them are very nice.

Could argue against RDM and SAM hat just due to Atmas for their respective jobs. THF gloves are still sort of useful.
