Maw Graphics Issue

Ok now this is a strange thing that happens to me. I recently updated my PC to windows 7 and got a new graphics card, the Gforce GTX460. I got this card so I can run FFXIV as well but thats besides the point. Anyway I can log on to FFXI no problem and even mess around logged in but the moment I come in view of a carniverous maw the graphics freeze up and all the characters in view turn to blocks along with it lagging so much that my character almost gets frozen. Once i turn my camera view away from the maw or i'm out of view of it the game runs perfect with no issues.

I ran a files check through the playonline viewer and found no issues with any files. I tried messing around and changing all the graphic settings but i come up with the same issue. I would really hate to have to reinstall the game again because I have the original game disks from release date back in 2003 and I don't want to have to purchase another disk.

Not sure what else I can do at this point. Anyone have any suggestions?

I know KI hasn't been that active but it's a shot in the dark if someone has advice.

This is a pretty well known issue across a lot of boards, but aside from swapping the .dat file, there isn't much you can do besides dill with it.

I have the same issue happening on my laptop, maws and verdical confluxs lag me out, but not too terribly and as soon as I move away from the maw I am fine. My desktop doesn't skip a beat though.

I bet your install is clean, you are just going to have to put up with the lag, or like Derock said, .dat swap. But I have not heard of where the file path can be found to trade it out.

I think it has something to do with the glow effect that you see around those particular objects.
