hey i was quit from game when this ws was originally released and am gonna be looking into getting it, now my question about it is that it apparently has unexplained damage spikes? some ppl have suggested amount of damage taken vs current target or something to do with enmity ? (ce/ve relations like atonement?) any information is kindly appreciated. also does it in any form replace guillotine for a galkan drk? just looking at ftp and wscs kinda hard to tell. thx again

The damage spikes were more or less explained afaik via double/triple procs, and had nothing to do with enmity. As far as replacing Guillotine, no it does not for any race. As well, looking at the modifiers for a multi hit WS won't usually get you very far, due to the nature of everything after the first hit barely getting a bonus (and usually the first hit doesn't get crap either). And on another note, you will very very rarely take race into account when it comes to almost anything in FFXI(aside from max HP or MP), especially things like weapon skills.

so ppl were completely failing to take into account tp return on the ws for dmg that sucks horribly. and the race thing i can agree with just saying just if the two were very comparable down to the wsc mods maybe it might be worth looking at. does it out perform guilly or only better when your above 100% tp (it looks like tp over ahundred adjusts dmg to a degree)25str/25mnd vs 20str/ 20int on a multihit isnt asking to forgoe the common approach to multihits but my int is higher than my mnd so i thought i should take it into account for some rather specific situations

Insurgency is pretty much guillotine's younger helmet wearing brother. A well rounded guilllotine set will win over time regardless of the random spikes that you get. I wish I could give you the time back that you spent questing it, just like I wish I could get my time back from reading this.

Don't forget Insurgency is good for light skillchains if u use that.

Insurgency Testing

There is the old testing information about insurgency on this forum. I think it's a bit more direct than "because i say so". I am sure you can find more intensive testing on the "other site" if you really want to know more.

I remember first "OMG" party that I was in non manaburn or arrow burn was in bibiki bay. Still after 7 yrs~ i can remember it. Was Drk+mnk+blm+thf+brd+smn... we killed non stop and hit a c7 which was huge back then. made 8k/hr and we felt like gods lol... I was at the time curing on blm while tossing out finishing Nukes... smn was actually one who DDed which was rare back then... ok back to 2011 where we all solo Its in 5 seconds.
