People would start all over in XI if it had better graphics? lolwut?

Also you got your parallel story, it's called Abyssea.

I didn't say with just better graphics, and no Abyssea is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a reboot of the game.

It usually doesn't work.

Everquest 2 tried this, and isn't doing too hot, most people rather stick with Everquest 1.

FFXI would be the same thing, not many people would be thrilled with giving up on a game they have been playing for years just to convert the an almost identical game, with better graphics. What people want from each new Final Fantasy is something different, and that is what happens, good or bad.

What needs to be done, and it is actually currently happening, is turn FFXIV around to have similar elements that made FFXI successful, not just copy and paste it.

I know quite a few people who are tired with XI because of the crap ToAU brought with it. The game was no longer fun for a lot of people when suddenly your jobs aren't even wanted because of TP burns. Yes, there were TP burns before ToAU, but they weren't mainstream. When you can't do anything except an Astral Burn as SMN, or a Manaburn as BLM, there is a problem. When you down HNMs in 3 minutes when they previously took an hour to kill, there's a problem. You shouldn't be able to zerg numerous bosses this way. I can understand a few niche bosses where it is recommended like having a lot of SMNs for the original CoP missions before the nerf, or maybe manaburning the sky mission with the 5 bosses, but the strategy for 90% of everything should not be, "Let's load up on melee, have them use a wing, give them haste, and burn the boss in 30 seconds. That is boring, especially if you once had a job that was wanted and now you can't even do simple content because you aren't the TP spamming DD.

FFXI's population started dwindling after ToAU, that's when a lot of hardcore players quit. Also, if people want something new that isn't a copy+paste, then FFXIV is not for them. They took all the races from XI. They have the same stupid gender-lockouts as XI. They copy and pasted terrain to no end in XIV. The art design is the same as XI. If people always wanted something fresh, then we wouldn't ever hear of remakes, or people begging SE for a FF7 remake.

I would gladly restart XI pre-ToAU era before they nerfed CoP. That was when the game was actually fun, every time I've logged on after I quit, it just seems like XI is a way to keep sucking money out of people who refuse to move on.

Fucking ROFL.

FF12 used the same races from the TA series, did that make the game copy/pasted? Also in case you haven't noticed a lot of games reuse textures, the trick is to find a balance where you don't use up so much memory you're very limited on textures, something they didn't consider in XIV.

Then ask for FFXI to change, don't turn FFXIV into it.

What......?

FFXI died (to me) in 2006 when Ballista Royale didnt return for the second year. I no longer gave a shit about digital muscles when PvP was no longer popular.

Yeah I was addicted to the competition. If you never got into it, it was really a hell of a lot of fun. I'm a PvP kinda guy, kinda why I like fighting games. I mean, I liked the end game stuff and storyline too, but what kept me up late at night wasn't the quest for rare/ex items. I enjoyed the Co-Op team based games at its highest point. Don't forget, Ballista got so popular at one point that they actually had the first (and only) international PvP tournament/event with players from every server being able to participate. The shit was on point. Sad to see it go...

Jesus christ, could you be any madder? The only thing that changed for melee (from a technical stand point) from CoP to ToAU was.. Walahra turban? Honestly, the major shift in the way the game was played was people stopped being ignorant fucks like yourself. When it was found out how powerful haste really was compared to everything in the game, every job that didn't see real benefits from it went by the wayside. This includes more than your apparently precious SMN or BLM. But it's good that you're so short sighted that you can't see past the point when your weakling jobs were no longer considered good, because that leaves more game for the people who are actually good at it.
