If you really can't tell the fucking difference between 4 hours doing something you don't like and 4 hours doing something you do like then you've got more problems then just being dumb as fuck.

people hated dyna? if people hated it I wouldn't see shouts for it still, people wouldn't do it back in 2004. maybe i am just insnase you know, not do events you don't like, thats why i didnt do salvage after finding out the bull drop rates it had.

People do events to get gear, plain and simple. That is the draw to any event, and it is the draw to any end game of any MMO.

Obligatory Rambus you're an idiot remark.

now that that's done, here's the difference you moron.

Back in the day, dynamis was a 4 hour event where the chance of you (or anyone for that matter) walking away with a reward was slim. It usually required an alliance or 2 (maybe not for good LS's but the norm was usually 30+ people for most average groups.) which takes alot of coordination and means alot of competition for drops. The fact that it can take a year just to get 5/5 on a set for 1 job says enough. And that's if you're lucky enough to have a job that had useful AF2 to begin with. 'sup WAR.

Abyssea is almost the direct opposite. Sure a single sitting can go 10+ hours, but that's the person's choice. I could go in there and kill something in 20 minutes and walk away with a few seals or items for an empyrean. Flagging makes the drops near guarenteed. I don't need 30 people to help me, more like 2 or 3. All of the jobs have great stats on their armor (some pieces suck, but the majority of the stuff is good.) A buddy of mine likes to stick around after we're done farming empyrean items to farm gold chests for scrolls, and makes money that way.

Someone already said the reward/effort ratio is stupidly high in abyssea, which can lead some people to stay in there for hours on end. But the point is, they don't have to. That's their choice to make. Dyna? you hammer an /assist macro and watch it die in 4 seconds without even taking a swing. And every run feels like a waste of time since no one gets anything worthwhile 9/10 runs. woohoo.

Really?

Not everyone likes every aspect of the game but is still willing to do it because they want something from it. Or even if they didn't, maybe its' something their shell did. As far as people shouting, I can guarantee you they're not sitting there thinking "oh hey, dynamis is fun. Let me go get some people and do it." They want gear from it.

By your logic, irl, everyone is fuckin in love with their jobs because if they didn't like them, they'd quit; most people just do that shit for money, not because they like it, lol.

So you are telling me your hypocritical now? ill go back and point out path since he seems to side with the gear BS argument too.

back in a skill point gain thread I said MNOs are made to brun time more then anything while he said a game is there for you to have fun, not sitting there hours on end doing something for little to no reason.

for most people having to sit 4 hours to get something done is not appealing, thats prob a big reason wow is successful because you can log in for 10 mins to 1 hr and get a few things done, you still cant do that in FFXI

game is not all about what gear you get, its about having fun, and most of my ls is getting like this now, they want to do some other stuff oncei n a while like limbus or einherjar or jorm or vrta and so on because its something different to do, doing nothing but abyssea 24/7 does not appeal to meny people and i am rather shocked at the comments in this thread. to me it shows you are just in your own little word where these forums incpous the people that want to spend 10 hrs a day playing a game for only gear.

and i still want to ask again, are you really upset about those time limits on nms? you want your 16 hr PW back?

If i was playing a game or events just for gear, i would not bother playing, so with you saying that, you sound like an idiot.

so cream soda, you are doing work 24/7, planing to die at 50 from stress?

You're a tard if you believe everyone just up and liked doing dynamis. It was one of the, worst events in the game's existence, in my opinion.

However, having good gear, enhanced my fun in other areas, so while some things were not directly fun, doing them made the things I did have fun doing more fun. For example, dynamis sucks, but mnk af2 shoes allows easier for a different style of play, counter tanking, which I find a very fun thing to do. So I had to put in some time doing something I didn't have fun doing in order to enhance my fun in other areas.

So since this is a worthless thread with no point to it (seriously, shit-for-brains, what are you trying to accomplish here? you clearly have an agenda, but your inability to communicate makes it more obscure than backwards hieroglyphics painted on the far side of the Moon), I just want to point out that I am sorely tempted to report you for the changes you've made to your avatar and sig, Vegetto. Also, what the hell is up with your random commas? If you're trying to imitate Rambles, you're doing a poor job of it. He rarely has a random comma splice, he just cannot manage to type even simple things like "MMO."

Seriously, how do you fuck up "MMO"? I don't even like psychotropic substances, but I have to figure you're permanently blitzed out of your mind on something and I'd like to know what it is and experience it just once to see what life is like with a room temperature IQ.

what always bugged me about dynamis and ffxi in general is they have this warning when you log in to not forget your friends/family yet they designed the game to be a huge time sink and grindfest. accomplishing anything in it takes hours and yet they pretend to care about your RL.
