So... yeah. Some "developer" no one has ever heard of is making a mod for Half-Life 2, centered around running and gunning in a school. His inspiration is Columbine, even going so far as to include the weapons Klebold and Harris used. Although, the map isn't based off of Columbine High. The lead designer - only going by his internet handle - had this to say:

"I think the media tried to cover it in a way that made the events more dramatic than they actually were. Even in my younger age, I saw right through most of it. The way the news victimized the victims and overplayed the evil of the shooters disgusted me more than the actual shootings themselves. The fact of the matter is, I never knew any of the victims, or anybody else who attended the schools. It affected me as much as hearing about the quakes in Haiti. Which is to say, not very much at all."

I have no idea what he "saw right through." Granted, the media did lose their minds a bit (like blaming video games and Marilyn Manson), however, this does not change how tragic and mind-blowing the event was. If anything, it added to the confusion over why it happened. And he was indifferent? Fine. I'm just trying to figure out how someone acts on indifference. Either way, this is clearly for shock and nothing else.

Deliberate tastelessness is usually a defense mechanism against emotions one would rather not acknowledge. Though he does just barely have a point in that school gun violence is sensationalized by the media and blown far out of proportion: school violence is at an all-time low and has been steadily dropping for most of the past century. It doesn't make for entertaining news for the retards that watch the news, though, to say "The kids are all right."

The sad thing is all the comments on the page that agree with his retarded view.

the comments don't necessarily agree with his full view, but to the point that the media over did the coverage

Some of them were almost a copy/past of Vilg's post on this guys view. I didn't dig around much since this guy is just trying to be an attention whore.

Super Columbine Massacre RPG 2? I think I liked it better in 2D.

It's the same thing, but with less story and more graphics. Sounds like every video game "evolution" ever.

The utter tastelessness of the mod aside, the creator is right though. The media always over blows negative stories, particularly those revolving around shooting incidents. Just took at the Tuscon and what a shit storm that got whirled into. It was indeed tragic, but there wasn't a damn thing anyone could have done to stop the guy; and hindsight aside I doubt anyone could have ended it before he killed more people than he did. You can't stop crazy, and you can't prevent crazy.

Unfortunately, you can't put it aside, since he is creating it as a response to the sensationalistic predilections of the press. If anything, it shows a cognitive dissonance on his part; he's essentially doing the same thing.

The JFK assassination simulator was pretty cool, so why can't this be as well? Y'know, give the player an identical load-out and challenge them to kill more kids than the psycho-bastards did. Unfortunately, though I haven't read the article, it'll just be tastelessness for publicity and little more than HL2 reskinned. Okay, so I read it and the screenshot looks terrible anyway. I guess the title is supposed to be the shocking part then?

Yes. And if you're a 38 y/o mother of two who has drugged herself out of reality on her own sense of self-importance and relevance, you'd be having a conniption about the title. For those people capable of rational thought, their reaction is more of disgust that anyone even bothers to acknowledge this puerile cry for attention.

I was looking for a "what about the children comment." I should know better.

My bad, Rein. I'll indulge you:

They take 3 shots to the torso, but only one to the head, to properly kill. The difficulty setting on this game is actually fairly easy.
