Monk Damage Calculator Revised

Hello everyone,
some might remember me some might not, but I've did post this same program a long time ago, maybe somewhere around 2008, but i've quit since and never really bothered..
with all the hype and the new updates, I kinda got excited and came back to FFXI...
however due to the catastrophic events that happened in Japan, I found myself to have this free time, so I decided to work on my Monk Damage Calculator one more time to make it up to date.

What I did new was adding Atma options, so you can see what different set-ups can do
added the curor str-dex-vit enhancement option

I've added a save/load feature, however its still basic.

I've updated the equipment database, so now you should have up to level 90 gear...

doing all of this in 1 week was kinda... too fast, thus, i'd love if i can have feedback, about bugs/problems, whatever~~
bare in mind however is that i'm not that good with VB.net programming, and this program was actually the first one I did with VB, but since 2008, I learned a little :P

here is a screen shot on the new program
Posted Image

and here is the actual link to the program,
link here
I'd recommend extracting first, then run "Monk Damage Calculator.exe"

further notice, if anyone have experience in VB.net, I have a couple of question to ask to improve my code a bit..

=== Ninja Edit ===
here is the older link, silly me i just googled it
http://killingifrit....age-calculator/
you can find in it a handy guide to how to use it, however its the guide for the pervious version...
Though I don't see that much difference.
Enjoy :D

Just before anyone comments, I'd like to mention some of the updates that I will do soon.

- Save/Load option currently only work on the first form, So I will work on saving the gear worn for every WS set, and different TP sets.
- I'll complete the rest of the H2H weapons, since I've only updated the ones that matter the most.. maybe i forgot some, but i was restricted by time.
- I'll have to complete the rest of Food menu.
- since "Conserve TP and TP Bonus" are new concepts, I have not really put them down in the DoT formula yet.
- I haven't really worked on the PUP option after the level 75 update really, and I don't see myself continuing so...

These were really the only things that came to my mind now, however, if you guys got ideas please let me know.

These kind of things rarely (if ever) work as expected.

That's because you have to download it first, extract and double click the program for it to work my good friend :)
beside its the whole reason to publish, to get feedback about bugs, etc..

thanks for the reply though :)

You're retarded. I meant that they're rarely, if ever, accurate and comprehensive. And in the off chance that they are for a small time period (extremely unlikely in the current state of the game), the amount of work that goes into keeping one of these up to date will usually deter anyone.

lmao, did I hit a nerve there Banter?
I know exactly what you meant, let me rephrase what you meant
"Things like this usually don't work as expected so, I won't bother trying to use it at all, yet I am gonna waste a reply post just to show how useless my posts are"
but its expected coming from a troll.
i'm teasing buddy, all these months checking the forum I keep growing fond with your trolling that I became a fan of your awesomeness.. NOT *i've been rewatching scrubs and remembering how much I liked Dr. Cox* XD

Anyways, if you would like to participate, give it a try,
I've worked really hard on this thing, i've been working on it for 3 years, however its true its a single man's work, but i'm pretty smart :P

I have probably included everything that affect your DoT as a Monk, I've added BRD/Cor/SMN buffs, even Berserk/WarCry~
if you're using Empy weapon, u get the double attack damage kicking in the offhand weapon, if you have spharai you get the 5% damage bonus
hell even if you have merits in focus JA period it will count it in the formula.
I've included all Atmas that affect your stats, weapon skill gorgets, and a lot,

Probably the only thing that comes to my mind regarding the new hype that really does not matter that much is the "Counter" role, if you want to calculate that you need the Mob info which is somehow hard to obtain,
as well as that sometimes you won't always have all the hate, but even assuming you're soloing, you need to know the mob's delay and Accuracy, not fun I tell you.

Banter if you want to be useful for once in your life, try the program, and give me feedback, although I can imagine what kind of feedback you gonna give... but i'll give it a try :)

Thanks for the reply Cream Soda
great link indeed, lots of effort done in that excel sheet. I might get some ideas from it,
however i think its too complicated and its all over the place.
Also I've noticed some stuff that are not taken in consideration, however it looks good.
but it seems like you are stuck with 1 WS set for every WS which bothered me.
anyways, if you like GUI more then I think my program is better,
but if you're more interested in numbers and percentages, then go with the excel ^^

Looking at your program, I don't see a way to perma change the equip menu. It seems to go back to default every time after I close it, which is annoying. (same thing w/ options and atma, etc)

It's missing some of the new gear options. (beir belt, Aias bonnet, etc.)

Double attack and triple attack aren't functioning properly.

Epona's ring and Toreador's ring give the same max ws damage and it shows nothing vs atma of apocalypse giving the same WS damage as well

Boost's job ability delay isn't accounted for (for example, using a lv 1 bee for stats, using boost should lower your DPS because the attack+ adds nothing and you're using up delay to use it).

Your marches have incorrect maximum values
http://www.bluegartr...l=1#post4337303 for more info on that.

thanks for the great feedback cream soda I really appreciate it.
about new equip, the excel sheet had the same problem, it doesnt have all gear in it, but you can just simply add it to the sheet, you can do exactly the same with the database included in my file, just add it manually, however I will work on updating them on my next release.

yes you're absolutely right, perma change is not ready yet, and I did mention it in my to do list in the #2nd post, i'm working on it as we're speaking however i'm running into some problems because i switched from PC to laptop and some files did not copy smoothly, lol.
also about the triple attack function, you're correct again, first of all i didnt give TA any attention at all because really the only thing that had TA was indra katers i think it was called, and it had only 1%, lol.. so i neglected TA in my calcs,
but since the new update, now we have many TA options, so as a quick alteration to the formula, i'm adding (TA x 2) + DA, in TP DoT it won't affect it, but in WS DoT it will affect it a little bit because you have a chance of doing 6 hit WS but the probablity is not that much to really consider, however i'm redoing my code to fix that.
about the Boost, i never really considered adding the delay, because really no matter what you wear for EXP/Limit mobs, the delay won't change much between different sets

however when comparing my results with the MNK datasheet, i found a small margin of 2% error if not less..

but just a small notice for everyone here...
I'm a big fan of FF, from 1 up to now, and i was good with programming so i decided to do this program *for me really* then after working so much on it, i thought it would be unfair to just keep it to myself.
so, I am sharing a software, not selling :), however yes and because i love FF, I will still keep working on fixing bugs, updating and enhancing my program, i just want everyone to remember that its a fan made program :)

Well, the only reason I mentioned the boost thing is because there's a point in haste to where your damage will actually go down if you use boost, so it's good to see where you're at.

Impetus is also another thing to consider. It's up 60% of the time so now it's a big part of our damage (especially w/ af3+2 body)

How do you sort out the effect of Impetus, though? Bear in mind, I haven't played with the JA for a variety of reasons, the primary one being that I haven't played since the 85 cap. My understanding, though, is that it resets whenever you miss, right? I suppose there's some way to average out the curve, but that'd be a beastly pain in the ass to try to sort dynamically (by which I mean: varying with Accuracy and, to a lesser extent, critical hit rate and damage caps, if applicable).

I think Kinematics has his set to an average value based on hitrate. And yes, it resets with both a miss or a ws.

I didn't implement Impetus yet to the formula, though I think it will be exciting to work on,
however I do have some questions regarding Kinematics numbers..

Is base kick attacks rate 12.5% for Kick Attacks II, or 10%? coz his sheets shows 12.5% however most studies and websites say its 10%

actually this was the only question for now, might ask some other questions later as they build up.

He said he tested it himself. I'd take his word personally over wiki's, but that's just me
