When the ps3 version is released (we hope), then again, was it ever confirmed?

People, just wait til June-ish before you start your campaign into ffxiv. It'll cmoe with a new expansion, new in-game content, job uniqueness, improvements to the battle system and quest system and some other goodies I'm sure. This game is still in Post-Beta Beta Testing.

Yeah, I bought it yesterday just to log on for an hour each day and levequest. Just getting a head start haha. If anyone is looking for a good MMO that ISN'T WoW that can hold you over until you can get your FFXIV fix, Rift is great. I've been playing it for about a week and a half and everyone loves it there. Come to my server and we can invite you to the guild =p

I thought about getting Rift, but I don't like how it looks all typical of a "Lore" type MMO. Like the game is always dark and gloomy, even when its sunny. I hate when MMOs look all dorky with that gloomy lore look to it. The reason I like FFXI is because, although it has some religious/spiritual context in the jobs/stories, Rift just seems to open that door even more to where the game just seems flat out Abyssmal and Demonic. The game appears too dark for me :( XI has a different "look" toit as opposed to what I've seen from other MMOs. IMO at least.

Sheeeeet, I still get the jitters every time I use Souleater on DRK.

/troll.

Honestly, it's a really good game, but... if you were to swap character design with WoW I might not have been able to tell the difference between the two. Yes, it is THAT much like WoW. It's not my cup of tea. I prefer ffxi and xiv due a lot to the play style and, of course, there's always an awesome community. No one talks to each other on Rift, not even in our guild... I hate that. When I quit ffxi I was thinking, "I hate waiting for a bunch of other players just to get something done today", but here I am wishing I had more contact with other players haha.

By the way, are you on Trabia? I just started a character there.

Just an update on how Rift is doing, since people on these forums might be interested to hear from someone actually playing it. The game is about a month old and new content is already being released for endgame. Class balance is a very large issue in the community since 1.1.6 came out a few days ago, but all MMOs have that problem. There are quite a few people canceling subs this month because of the patch, but that's nothing new. There are always cry babies in every community.

Cons: Even though the main selling point of the game is the idea that you have diversity in your soul trees, that means that there are effectively only 4 different classes, each with 8 subsspecs. You might be thinking that sounds awesome, but considering the fact that in any given situation, only one subspec and build are optimal. Which means much less diversity because, even though they tried not to have this happen, there are cookie-cutter specs for each class. I don't particularly like walking around in Stonefield and seeing 4 other warriors, each with the exact same spec as me because that's just the spec you need to make optimal use out of grinding and questing.

I'll be downloading FFXI tonight while I'm asleep.

Unfortunately, the vast number of options available in Rift when it comes to classes and subspecs are proving to be a disadvantage. There are many cases where the players are actually better off if their choices were controlled and limited. The system in place in FFXI is probably the best way to allow players to customize their classes without it being confusing and inefficient.

Another example is the gear system in FFXIV in which you get "Full benefits" if the correct class at the correct level equips it. I somehow prefer the FFXI system that tell u what level you need to be to wear it in the first place. Made the whole matter more simplified.

Wow. So, FFXI is installed and ready to play. Little did I know that firstly, you need to have this VbV 3-D protection option on your card to be able to register it as a payment option, but secondly, my provider does not support this system so I cannot register for said service on that card. Apparently I have to contact customer support so they can enter my card manually... which is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to call customer support to figure out how I'm going to pay them money. At least one thing about this game is still the same: SE has always been the bottom of the barrel when it comes to customer support. =/

I believe you can bypass this with the PS2 or Xbox 360.

Yeah, you can because they don't have browsers (obviously) on consoles. But I bought it for pc off steam and prefer to play it on pc. I was thinking of checking the forum to see if someone wouldn't mind doing it for me, but obviously, I'm not about to trust anyone with my CC info.

qft. Of the entire population of players Rift might have, I'd hazard a guess that only a very small percentage of them (5-10%) are people who know that class balance changes are always going to mess with your class once in awhile. I'm not really sure why, when I log onto the forum, every post is comprised of nothing but bitching, mainly about Pyros since they weren't nerfed along with warriors and stealth rogues when just a week ago every forum topic was about how warriors and certain rogue classes were overpowered... All in all, I think Trion is a little bit too eager to please right now because their game just launched, but you can't make everyone happy.
