So, 2011 and we're all fucking gone from Asura, for the most part at least. We all left with our accounts graveyard intact for the most part because of our morale reaction to "Don't sell or you're RMT" "Don't bot or you're a piece of shit!" "You're in that LS? ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED?" blah, blah. Countless riches buried.. I think there has to be some humor value in this topic for the shit and giggles of it that after we spent 4-7 years on a game. What would you have done different/wished you had just ended up doing before or WHEN you quit to get where you wanted to be.
Your anti-botting stance when the fact is almost everyone out there was doing it? (Personally? It would've been more progressive for our LS to just grab them up from the guys in BG IRC and bot to holy living hell with the top end stuff) I was able to keep anti-botting 'cause of not having any desire for the items off kings(since pretty much every camping shell gave me belt items) but I know some people started to distribute the bot shit they got from our other buddies in blue, I guess 3 monthes or so before I dropped the pearl? I found out after Salvage bans from Krysh once I'd already left to social, kind of a laff. Also I legitimately did only ever play on my PS2 until like my last 2 monthes >_> so I had room to bitch since I couldn't bot on it.
Do you wish you sold your account for a huge payout if you were worth it? I do! Holy fuck I probably would've made a nice chunk with the amount I had on me when I quit from my dynamis cash(somewhere in the realm of 80 mil) and salvage shite. But of course, since everyone was all morale about money I just gave it all to Seyonne(ElForto on Gilgamesh server) to get some artwork done RL~ and got Efay fast bewts she rly wanted.. wish I gave it all to Efay since I never cashed in with Sey but ohwell. x)

A- I never botted, never cared for botting or the people involved. My take was, if you were so desparate to get in-game profits so much that you'd actually cheat, just take the mob/item/claim/etc. It's not that serious to me to lose sleep over. Its whatever. But I never called GMs or knocked people for bots etc, unless they were using that shit vs me in Ballista.... then it wasn't cool.
A- I did sell my account, but not for as much as I wanted to get for it. My guess is, had I known how big the RMT industry was, I wouldn't have passed on shit in sky/sea/nyzul/salvage/dynamis etc, and would have done meaningful things while I was on the game rather than spend 200 days idling behind my screen sending /l messages. Nowadays, everything is a business. From selling lemonade to playing video games to asking for professional help to providing streams and asking for donations. I never realized that playing a video game could have such monetary rewards, but ever since I sold my account, I've learned that almost every game that involves other people has some sort of RMT in some form or another. It is what it is.
A- I don't cheat. Never have, never will. It's not my style, like tatoos. It's good to be different.

I was against other botters and cheaters. They took away from my guaranteed claim...... I think everyone knew I cheated at some point. I botted random crap back before I joined Tribe, and I still cheated a bit when Blue, Palo, and myself made Remedy. During my last year or so in game, I didn't care enough to cheat. I had more than enough gil, gear, and other shit. I'd show up and tank stuff if needed, otherwise I just bummed around and had my fun with friends.
I did sell my account, but I called SE and got it back. Fuck the gilsellers, right up the ass. I got their money, and my account too. I still have it, although I highly doubt it will ever be active again.
My favorite Taru was Donald. Oh... how I miss my HQ WHM!

Final Fantasy XI will probably go down as my favorite game of all time. Ive been banned for around 2 years & though not a day goes by that I wish I wasnt banned,It was kind of a good thing that I was. FFXI was VERY addicting to me & when I look back I dont think I spent asmuch time with my family that I should/could have.
As far as botting goes: I never did It & I really didnt care about it since even though with my 75PLD,75MNK,75WHM,75BRD,75BLM,75NIN,55WAR(I feel like I'm forgetting another 75) no LS would have me as I made It a mission to be the most famous name on the server. Turns out I DID become the most famous...most famous for being notorious/hated/etc,etc.
But even though I never really did much end-game stuff...I'm happy for those who were recruited from the StormriderzFTW that did. Many of It's members made It Into good shells & I'm sure they had many grand adventures & good times. Good for them.
As far as buying gil: To each his own. I never did It. But I can see the appeal as toward the end of my characters life prices were EXTREMLY high. I can see how people would WANT some cool gear but didnt have the time to put In the effort. Talking about this games economy brings back memories of when a chocobo ride In La Thiene used to cost 5k+ a ride lol.
In case anyone was wondering why I got banned the story goes as follow...I'll make It quick: IN Whitegate someone was hating as usual saying "You suck" or what not. I replied "Yeah..I suck! I tank as a WHM,Cast -aga spells in crouwded camps,I buy gill,etc" just to talk shit about myself or whatever.
GM warped me. Even though I tried to explain the situation that I never bought gil...The GM wasnt having It AT ALL. And Insta banned me for life.
Anyways...I had some good times with many people and though I wished it never ended...Life goes on.
My FFXIV collectors edition copy has been In my game stack for months & once my tax check arrives I'll be buying be a Alienware so I can play XIV at work and will be hoping for some more good times.

A friend of mine had a similar scenario where he was temporarily banned for buying gil, but he it was only for 3 days. Usually they don't ban you for good unless you have 3 strikes, unless of course it was the STF. Those mothafuckas didnt play.

I was one of those hypocritical fucks who was totally against botting, got offered a free one, took it, shut up. SE had their rules, HNM shells had theirs, for a long time you followed the latter if you wanted your shinies. It didn't last long, you quickly realise that nobody is paying attention to what is going on, they're just waiting for the tell-tale ring of their chosen program to inform them shit was going down. APP became a giant Clear PC button after that. I never used it outside HNM areas, didn't see the point, anything else just detracted from the game.
Sell my account? Fuck no, it's mine. If you felt you needed some kind of monetary reward for your time spent playing the game, you weren't doing it right. Each to their own I guess, but I always frowned upon it.
I never gave a toss about admitting to botting while I played, if you were in certain linkshells it didn't matter what you said; you were botting.
Favourite Drama? Being accused of credit card fraud was pretty funny. The month of whining about hour-long, raging NQ Behemoths was pretty entertaining too.

I was pretty much against Botting, it really pissed me off. I never did it....sort of, only tool i ever used was Windower and a few adds of it. Like TP distance, and icon timers. other than those, i didnt do much.
I´d never sell my account, i worked it, i'd give it to RL friends thou, since i know where they live and could kick some ass if they wont give it back.
Cheatting.....i guess i can say i cheated once on a LS, got my shinny and left, but other than that, nope.
Drama....God, so much fun, Napo was the best, no doubt. Alche quitting cuz of a Voicebox or somethign, then taking his account back from Ariv, that was fun to read.
